Sandwith has a terrific record around here and comes into this in decent form while Avertuoso is another who comes into this in good form and his low draw should ensure he plays a prominent role in the early exchanges. However, there is plenty to like about the chances of GRISSOM. The C&D winner has proved himself a model of consistency of late and with the form of his recent Pontefract second looking strong, he rates the one to beat.

The penalised Foreign Rhythm seems sure to prove popular in her bid to follow up her recent Newcastle success but a high draw could make things tough today and slight preference is for the lightly raced ATTRITION. The 3-y-o son of Selkirk caught the eye when finishing third on his handicap debut at Catterick earlier this month and there should be plenty more to come from him. Recent Kempton third Mansii makes up the shortlist, along with Fashion Icon, who was engaged to run at Catterick yesterday.

Opus Maximus looks an obvious contender dropped in class but trainer Dandy Nicholls is usually the man to follow in this grade and he looks to hold two strong chances with Abbondanza and FREMEN. The former has a cracking record in this grade but the latter comes into this in sparkling form following a double last month and the five times C&D winner is fancied continue his love affair with this track and complete the hat-trick.

BLUE DESTINATION made an eye-catching debut when finishing sixth of 17 in a hot Newmarket maiden won by subsequent Group 1 winner Biondetti in August and with that initial experience under his belt, he is fancied to make use of this step up in trip and open his account. The 85-rated Hoppy's Flyer takes the eye on her return to these shores and making her debut for the Phil Kirby stable but Icy Blue, who has been knocking on the door of late, is fancied to give the selection most to think about.

A decent prize on offer which can go the way of GRACEFUL DESCENT. Jim Goldie's charge has continued to improve throughout the season and produced a performance of some authority when beating Chilly Filly in a well-contested Ayr handicap last month. This step up in his trip looks within his compass and he can brush off a 5lb rise in the weights to complete the double. Top-weight Bollin Felix is proven at this trip and makes a fair amount of appeal on his Haydock runners-up effort last time, while recent Cesarewitch fifth Palomar and Atlantic Tiger, who receives weight all round today, are others to consider in a competitive looking renewal.

A low draw looks ideal for LADY PARIS who produced a fine effort in defeat when finishing fourth in a competitive 6f York nursery earlier this month, cutting out most of the running before tiring in the closing stages. The drop to 5f shouldn't prove a problem for a filly who clearly possesses plenty of pace and there are more races to be won with the Haydock victor off this mark. It is hard to knock the recent efforts of Crimson Knot who has been knocking on the door of late and another big run from her is anticipated, with similar sentiments applying to Insolenceofoffice.

Secret Venue won three times here last season and although things haven't quite gone his way this time around, he has still run plenty of good races in defeat and should have the rail to run against today. He should take these along at a good clip but SELECT COMMITTEE picked him up late when the pair locked horns at Redcar last month and despite failing to sparkle in two starts since, he should appreciate returning to this grade and looks to have plenty in his favour. Recent C&D winner Highland Warrior is another to consider.

A tricky looking conclusion to proceedings but ZED CANDY (also engaged to run at Yarmouth yesterday) remains attractively handicapped on the Flat and is nominated having returned from a lengthy lay-off to finish a creditable fifth at Southwell in July. Rated 120 over hurdles, he should strip much fitter this afternoon and looks to have retained plenty of his old ability. The in-form Hong Kong Island merits obvious consideration, while five times course winner Oddsmaker is another capable of a big run.
