Tony Martin bolstered an already formidable reputation when landing a big race on the Flat last weekend so Missgoodytwoshoes, a reasonable fourth at Aintree latest, seems sure to be a popular choice with punters. But she is still in search of a first hurdles success after 15 starts and PRESENT might represent more value. The selection returned to form when only beaten a head at Uttoxeter last month and a similar effort might suffice today. Winning Irish pointer Miss Ballygalley is likely to appreciate this step up in trip and could be of interest for place punters.

NEWBAY BOB returned from the point-to-point scene to bustle up Loita Hills in a stronger race here last time and a repeat performance is expected to suffice this afternoon. Justwhateverulike has enjoyed a fruitful spring but his winning run slid to a halt at Hexham last time and he might have to settle for place money once again. Greenock made a satisfactory debut over fences when placed at Hexham last month and rates a danger for a stable which excels with chasers.

Premier Dane is entitled to take revenge on his Sedgefield conqueror Safari Run at today's weights, but he has tasted defeat at short odds in all three chase starts to date and a chance is taken on ELLERSLIE TOM. Alison Thorpe's charge did not appear a natural over fences in two starts last autumn but posted a good effort in a hot hurdle race at Haydock latest and is sure to have received extensive schooling now back over the bigger obstacles.

Brave Broncho turned in an improved performance last time and cannot be left out of calculations, but he needs to progress further to score from 4lb out of the handicap and SEEYAAJ rates a safer alternative. The top-weight lost little in defeat when chasing home a useful sort here last time and will be tough to beat with no worries over trip and ground. Drumnavaddy Lough looks high enough in the weights so Notre Cyborg, making his handicap debut over fences, could be next best.

Russian Sky is useful on his day and Thunder Hawk looked a chaser with a future when trouncing nine rivals at Hexham last month, but it's hard to avoid the sound claims of APOLLO CREED, especially considering his trainer's fine record at this venue over the years. The six-year-old gelding put an in-form Annie Fleetwood in her place when scoring at Worcester last month and the manner in which the pair pulled clear of the chasing pack suggests it could be form worth taking seriously.

A competitive contest but it could be worth siding with PAINTED SKY. Richard Fahey's unexposed five-year-old failed to justify betting market favouritism in a Flat handicap at Newcastle in May when last seen, but he had made a really good impression when winning over timber on unsuitably easy ground at Wetherby the previous month. Tranos is on an upward curve and could have more to offer, while Castletown Boy and Tony Martin's Magnet For Money are also entitled to a great deal of respect.

Irish raider Glencree Spirit is worth respecting despite her lack of a recent run, but preference is for LETHEM PRESENT, who is thriving at present and had plenty in hand when regaining the winning thread at Hexham last month. Lethem Air and Moor Spirit are very closely matched on their recent Hexham running and it's hard to choose between them today, but the latter may be able to confirm his slight superiority.
