Drop A Gear could well be worth a second look in the betting market ahead of his NH debut while Jalingo looks sure to be in the shake-up again. The vote, however, goes to WELCOME BEN. He posted a career-best performance when chasing home the 125-rated Antilope Du Seuil over this C&D last time and a repeat effort will make him tough to beat.

THE ABSENT MARE has been a beaten favourite on her last three starts now but might be worth another chance. She showed a liking for this venue when runner-up in a 2m chase three starts ago and was arguably even better when second in this sphere at Cartmel last week. Receiving 5lb and upwards off these rivals, she must go close. Quest Magic was placed in a similar C&D event last time and should run well again, while Shine A Diamond and Roll Of Thunder also hold claims.

Just Awake would have a rock-solid chance if taking his place in the line-up but he was declared to run here yesterday, so POPPIES MILAN gets the vote. The six-year-old son of Milan was a promising second off this mark at Hexham 11 days ago and he may well improve for that first start in a year. Master Butcher and Broughtons Bandit are others to note.

Beidh Tine Anseo must enter calculations if coming under starters' orders but he was declared to run here yesterday, so MOONLIGHT MAGGIE is the pick. She represents a stable who do well at this venue and a 4lb rise for winning at Southwell last time looks quite generous. Honourable Gent has been running consistently well all year and he cannot be ruled out either.

RUSSIAN REGENT has been in terrific form recently and a course record of 122 bodes well. He was only just beaten by a 129-rated opponent over this C&D last time and will prove difficult to beat if able to reproduce that level of performance against these lesser rivals. His stablemates Xaarcet and Bouggietopieces would have to be respected if lining up, but both were declared to run here yesterday, so Peachey Moment could be the one to focus on in terms of dangers.

SOLWAY DANDY loves it around here and looks the one to side with. He produced a career-best performance, and had a couple of subsequent winners behind, when striking over this C&D latest and an 8lb rise might not be enough to anchor him if arriving in the same mood. Topper Thornton also arrives on the back of a track and trip victory and has a shout, while Bank Bonus is worthy of consideration on his first start for Gordon Elliott.

WATERLORD had a subsequent winner 17 lengths behind when hacking up on his debut in a Stratford bumper and he should have few problems following up under a penalty. Touch A Million ran well in this tongue-tie/blinkers combination at Gowran and looks the obvious danger representing Gordon Elliott and Richard Johnson, while any market support for the newcomers Miss High Time and Emdale Ruby could be worth noting.
