In a competitive contest the marginal preference is for JOHN MONASH, who was only narrowly denied over 2m here at the end of last month and the step up in trip can bring about the required improvement to see the five-year-old back in the winners' enclosure. Knocklayde Sno Cat was just edged out by Faraway Mountain last time so will be buoyed by that horse's defection.

If Stay In My Heart jumps off this time then she would be a danger to all based on her win at Hexham in May, but she did refuse to race at the same venue last month. Darsi Dancer chased home the Susan Corbett-trained mare on the first occasion but, while he needs to improve to reverse that form, the son of Darsi may be the safer option. That said, DUMBARTON has been knocking on the door of late and he could reward each-way support this afternoon.

KINARI has been in excellent form of late having improved 37lb in the handicap on his four recent starts and won again with authority last month at Worcester. He has been raised 11lb for that effort but there doesn't appear a ceiling at the moment on when his progression will end. Western Home ran well here last time and can only improve for the step up in distance, while Sonneofpresenting ran well on chase debut and will appreciate better ground he encounters here.

A very modest contest where TAJSEER looks a solid option. The son of Medaglia d'Oro ran his best race over hurdles to date last time when runner-up behind Our Dougal at Down Royal and Gordon Elliott's charge should have no issue getting off the mark with Richard Johnson taking the ride. Point-to-point winner Important Moment could go well on his hurdling debut, while Sweet Holly looks best of the remainder.

RUN WITH THE WIND ran a decent race when second to Clarcam over hurdles last time at Down Royal and returns to a contest he won 12 months ago off the exact same mark. The son of Sadler's Wells went off the boil as the year progressed last year and it could just be that he needs to be caught fresh. Le Grand Chene looks the main danger having won over C&D last time and it's noteworthy that Richard Johnson is riding off a light weight. Such A Legend ran a solid race in a competitive handicap at Uttoxeter and merits plenty of respect.

This trip appears to suit MRS GRASS well, and a 5lb rise might not be enough to prevent her from claiming successive victories. The nine-year-old got the better of Scorpions Sting last time out, and could take advantage of her low weight confirm that form. Marcus Antonius is a usually reliable campaigner who fell last time out, while Ardview Boy was well backed in Ireland last time out and clearly more is expected from him this time. Gunner Lindley ran well on the Flat last time out, but has always shaped as though jumping is more his game.

TYRRELL'S SUCCES claimed victory here in April under Paul Townend and with another reliable jockey booking in the shape of Richard Johnson, the five-year-old can defy a penalty to take this before moving onto hurdles. Now with Ali Stronge, he can get the better of Irish raider Toberdowney, who cost 16,000 euros at the sales and looks a likely type for a yard who have a decent record at this venue. Topham Bay is related to a few winners, including smart two-miler Feroda.
