Irish raider OPATJA, a six-time winner on the Flat in Italy, may not have achieved a great deal when landing a maiden hurdle at Newton Abbot last month, but she's open to improvement and meets these rivals on better terms than she would in a handicap. She will have no problem with underfoot conditions and should prove hard to beat here. Shipboard Romance looks the chief danger, having posted a creditable effort when beaten less than eight lengths into third behind Riverside Theatre at Kempton last time. Crow Spinney looks best of the remainder.

Irish trainer Gordon Elliott has a cracking chance in the first race on this card and has an equally compelling contender in this maiden hurdle in the shape of WIKAALA. The four-year-old couldn't match strides with South O'The Border in a handicap over course and distance last month and this assignment doesn't look as tough. Hey Charlie shaped with considerable promise when chasing home Massasoit in a 'bumper' at Catterick, but he has an 806-day absence to overcome, so Casual Affair may be the chief danger.

It's been a long time since INDY MOOD last got his head in front - January 2005 to be exact - but he has been in good form of late and was still travelling as well as anything when brought down 4 out in a race won by Nicozetto at Kelso earlier this month. His jumping has improved and a clear round should see him go close here with conditions to suit. Gershwinner didn't appear to get home over this trip at Hexham last time, therefore the selection may be given most to do by Neidpath Castle.

SINGING WIZARD returned from a lengthy absence to land a soft-ground novices' hurdle at Kelso in March and posted a solid effort on a faster surface when finding only Mayor of Kilcock too strong at Aintree recently. Conditions should be ideal here and he can continue his progression by capturing this prize, perhaps at the chief expense of Irish raider So Brilliant, who scored at Cork last time. Mighty Massini and Currahee both have each-way claims, while Prince Balthasar is worth noting in the betting.

Just the seven runners in this contest, but a decent pace looks assured with GO SILVER BULLET and Flaming Heck both likely to set out to make all. The former has gradually found his feet since joining Lucinda Russell's yard from Ireland and scored decisively enough at Musselburgh last time to suggest that he can defy a 7lb rise in the weights here. Flaming Heck isn't getting any younger, but confirmed his wellbeing when successful at Hexham last time. However, the one for the forecast could prove to be Raysrock.

PETE barley broke a sweat when scoring from beat Tommy Tobougg at Kelso earlier this month. The fitting of a tongue-tie appears to have worked the oracle and the six-year-old is taken to follow up here under a 7lb penalty. Alagon has been absent for 759 days, while Millagros has not shown much spark on the level recently, so Nevsky Bridge and Bale O'Shea look set to do battle for minor honours. The latter ran well in defeat last time and can chase the selection home.
