CESAR ET ROSALIE has yet to run a bad race over hurdles and the race he won at Sedgefield back in April was arguably stronger than this event. Triolet won a handicap hurdle at Down Royal two starts ago but does need to bounce back following a moderate display at Roscommon when last seen. Malcolm Barnes' Sir Tommy looks the pick of the remaining duo.

ITS PANDORAMA has improved with every start since he was switched to Brian Ellison's yard and he won impressively at Cartmel late last month. An opening mark of 111 is not overly generous but there are not many well handicapped horses in this field. Schlipf finished just over six lengths behind the selection last time out but is now 9lb better off now, while Dawerann is always of interest for Gordon Elliott.

IORA GLAS relished the switch back to fences when successful at Bangor last month and he has only been raised 4lb for that victory. That leaves his chasing mark still 2lb lower than the rating off which he won a handicap hurdle at Cheltenham in April. Johnny Go and Leading Score both warrant consideration following encouraging performances recently, while Hawkhurst could pick up some minor money.

Ballyvic Boru made the frame in both of his bumper starts either side of his Musselburgh win back in February and he warrants the utmost respect today. That said, the preference is for PLAY THE GAME given his high-class form on the Flat. The son of Lawman was second in a Listed race as a juvenile and he was beaten by less than two lengths when sixth in a Group 2 at the Curragh. Others to note are Sense Of Urgency and Thahab Ifraj.

VALSEUR DU GRANVAL finished second in a much stronger race at Uttoxeter when last seen in May and he should be hard to beat from just 1lb higher in the ratings this afternoon. Eyes Of A Tiger beat a subsequent winner in a match race at Fakenham last month and that followed another victory at Sedgefield. The Jazz Singer is thoroughly unexposed over fences and his fourth-placed finish at Down Royal last time was a fantastic effort for a horse having just his second start over the larger obstacles.

GREEN ZONE impressed when landing the spoils here 11 days ago after moving powerfully throughout the contest and he can put his crucial course-winning form to good use against this opposition. Broughtons Star represents a trainer that loves winners here but it is a concern that the 10-year-old is still a maiden over hurdles, while Newstart ran well at Uttoxeter in a seller last time despite being unfavoured at the weights. Morning Time is another name to note at the bottom of the weights for Grand National-winning handler Lucinda Russell.

It is never easy to give away penalties in such contests, but such was the impression created by SCOTTSDALE at Market Rasen last month that he looks a type who could simply be too good for this opposition under Tom Scudamore. The four-year-old has a great turn of foot and could have too much pace for Lafterlands, who is related to a few largely low-key Flat winners, and Rubbing Shoulders, who looked a little one-paced in a Downpatrick bumper four weeks ago.
