Verdict

BOLLIN RUTH bettered Westgrove Berry by four lengths when opening her account over 2m at Hexham when last seen in March. The latter is 1lb better off tonight and has gone on to win well on fast ground since, but Donal Whillans' charge will have been helped by the recent rain and is taken to improve on the silver medal she achieved in this race last year. Canadian Sunset was going well when unseating her rider on only her second hurdle start a year ago and warrants respect with Ruby Walsh booked to ride on her reappearance.

Verdict

Nicky Richards won this race a year ago and holds a strong hand again here with Castle Craigs, the newcomer Meertrix and LINDA'S THEATRE, but it's the latter that makes the most appeal. A bumper winner on his sole start in October '05, he shouldn't lack for fitness on his hurdling bow and looks the stable's first string on jockey bookings. Or De Grugy, second on his last four starts, and Chris Corsa, a hurdling debutant who showed ability on the Flat, are others to consider.

Verdict

Eriskay and Star Fever have shown signs of ability over fences and Little Said is entitled to come on for his respectable chasing bow, while Mr Twins was in good heart last month. Dual point-to-point winner Caipiroska showed little in four hurdle starts but could have more to offer over the larger obstacles, but the tentative vote goes to TORAN ROAD. He got off the mark in a similar event at Kilbeggan 11-days ago and is expected to come on for that confidence-booster and first run for eight months. A 12lb rise may not be enough to halt him.

Verdict

A 9lb rise for winning at Carlisle in March leaves Carapuce with no margin for error under top weight and it could pay to side with LEO MCGARRY. He has remained in good order since his double in February, he went well at Cheltenham off this mark last month and will relish tonight's easier ground. Catch The Perk has won four times here over fences and has to be respected as he reverts to hurdling.

Verdict

Last year's winner King Of The Arctic arrives here good heart, as does Great Jane who boasts a win and second from her last two starts. This drop in trip may be against her, however, and LOFTY LEADER may be worth taking a chance on. He has improved with each outing since taking to chasing in March and was 6 lengths ahead of Shares on similar terms when second over this C&D latest; further progress looks likely and he has conditions to suit once again.
