Gunnasayso has to be on the short-list after filling the runner-up berth on her last two starts, while point-to-point scorer Kitty Wong and dual bumper winner Maggie Mathias warrant plenty of respect as they take to hurdling for the first time. Preference, however, is for STARA who has been placed in better company over hurdles and fences in France and a bold bid is expected as she makes her UK debut for a top yard.

The Castilian goes up 7lb for his recent selling win and steps up in class but won with plenty in hand and can fight this contest out with THUNDER CHILD. The latter escapes a penalty for his victory over this C&D eight days ago and would take plenty of beating if the same mood today. Tiffin Deano was touched off in a seller when last seen in August and has clams if fully tuned up on his return.

Useful hurdler DESERT TOMMY wasn't too far away from landing the odds on his chasing bow over 3m2f at Plumpton on Sunday but this drop in trip will help and that experience earns him the vote ahead of Templer. Also decent over timber, he is clearly in good order following three consecutive silver medals in hurdles races and warrants respect on his chase debut. Cloudland went very close over 3m at Fakenham when last seen in March and is far from out of the equation.

DANTE'S BACK has been in fine fettle between the flags this year, winning four times, and backed up that form with an improved return to chasing two weeks ago, claiming a good second in a tougher event than this at Cheltenham. A repeat performance should see him open his NH account, possibly at the main expense of On His Toes. A model of consistency in point-to-point events, he is entitled to go well on his debut under Rules and looks a bigger threat than the inconsistent Wendy Dynamo.

Third Level Tom is expected to build on his recent return to action and Auchterarder, who represents a top stable, can improve on his form to date as he switches to handicapping. Brave Jo and Frosty Jak are others to consider but Nigel Twiston-Davies won this race last year and is taken to retain the prize with MONTECORVINO. The 6-y-o returned to form when third off this mark latest and would have been closer had he not been hampered by a faller three out, while this easier will suit better.

Twisted Logic has shown nothing of note since landing this race a year ago and last time out winners Manx Royal, Lets Go Dutch and TERRAMARIQUE look like the ones to concentrate on here. The latter won six from nine last season and still appears to be on an upward curve after returning from a six-month break with a victory last month. He is entitled to have more to offer today and rates the selection ahead of the top weight.

Those with experience under NH have hardly set the world alight so it may be wise to side with a newcomer in the finale. Equity Release, Pride of Dulcote and The Mighty Bard all hail from powerful stables, but so does DIFFERENT LOT who cost 22,000 gns as a 3-y-o and the yard's impressive record in this sphere earns him the vote. Point-to-point winner Piper Hayes is another to consider.
