Any market support for either of the two Ray Green-owned runners returning from lengthy absences, namely Reaping The Reward and Parky, could be worth noting, but THE COCKNEY MACKEM gets the vote to open his hurdling account. He has yet to finish out of the frame in four visits to the racecourse and returning to the scene of his bumper win last September can only help. Mar Ocean ran a cracker on his hurdling bow at Kelso recently and will know a lot more about the game now.

BRIDLINGTONBYGONES is taken to land the spoils on his debut in handicap company. The form of his second at Sedgefield last month has taken a boost with the winner going in again since and there should be plenty more to come from this relatively unexposed son of Bob's Return. Latin Connection has been knocking on the door recently and should be in the thick of the action once again, while Coeur De Fou rates a leading player despite a 6lb rise for his workmanlike victory at Doncaster last month.

Although undoubtedly a lucky winner at Sedgefield last time, the victory will have done Catch Bob's confidence the world of good and he warrants the utmost respect in his bid to follow up, but COTTAGE ACRE edges the vote. Representing a yard that has already tasted success at this meeting, he made the perfect start to his chasing career when scoring readily over an extended 2m2f at Newbury last month and was slightly unfortunate when unseating Paddy Brennan at Uttoxeter last time. Rossini's Dancer must enter calculations if lining up (engaged to run here on Thursday).

REGENT'S SECRET could spring a surprise from the foot of the weights. Although not getting any younger, the 11-year-old is well treated over fences in comparison to his hurdles mark and returning to the scene of each of his four NH wins thus far can only be a plus. Tartan Snow won in comfortable fashion at Kelso last month and should have decent claims if taking his chance (engaged to run here on Thursday), while Quito Du Tresor has run well at both Cheltenham and Ayr this spring and is fancied to give another good account of himself.

It's difficult to rule out many of these in what looks a typically open renewal. Sammy Spiderman is the only runner in the line-up competing from out of the handicap but he cannot be taken lightly after bouncing back to form in the first-time visor (worn again today) at Ayr last time. Other in-form players Keenan's Future, Saphire Night and Double Default also make the shortlist. The vote, however, goes to BALLYCARRON LAD. He came from a seemingly impossible position to win going away over an extended 3m at Carlisle latest and this longer trip will almost certainly play into his strengths.

ELZAHANN is fancied to strike for the Ferdy Murphy stable that won won this race with Noir Et Vert in 2006. The mare ran out a comfortable winner when tackling this trip over fences at Sedgefield last month and certainly won't be found wanting from the saddle today, with Edmond Linehan great value for his 5lb claim. Trendelenburg has improved throughout this year (winning three of his four starts) and should figure prominently representing the much-respected Gordon Elliott stable, while Newbury winner Stow is worthy of consideration despite having to shoulder top weight.

It could pay to side with VIKING CHIEF on his racecourse debut representing powerful connections. His dam, Diamond Sal, won a Grade 2 event in this sphere and trainer Howard Johnson will him fit enough to do himself justice. Other debutants Harry Handsome and Tear N Turn could be worth a look in the betting market but Dome Run has shown plenty of ability in both starts thus far and rates the biggest threat representing a yard that does particularly well in this type of event.
