Wikaala has disappointed favourite backers recently and without a win since last August, it might be worth taking a chance on TOSHI. With C&D form to his name, the son of Kingmambo drops back in class into selling company and must be taken seriously on ground which will suit. A return to form would see Danny Zuko in the frame when push comes to shove but while the Donald McCain eight year-old should be considered, Solway Star will need to step up considerably and may need this run after a lengthy laf-off.

Fresh from a spin on the Flat at Tramore earlier this month, albeit an unsuccessful one, it is hard to oppose the Gordon Elliot-trained SOUNDS OF THUNDER. A winner of a similar contest in May at Wetherby, she is a filly still open to improvement and has solid C&D form to her name. Mr Tallyman has been going well recently and represents the danger to the selection while Kalanisi Kid appeals most of the remainder.

If Bold Perk is turned out quickly after his chasing win here on Wednesday, he could go close, while Mr Nobody is an interesting runner with Ruby Walsh in the plate. However, preference is for WHAT A STEEL. Likely to be on offer at a tempting price, the seven-year-old has winning form this term in a novice handicap and drops in class from his most recent outing at Hexham. His claims would appear rock-solid. Maolisa is returning to form and must be considered too.

Nigel Twiston-Davies has a great record when sending runners north of the border and Kilvergan Boy has shaped well this season. The one to beat, however, is ITZACLICHE who made a most promising return to action when third at Market Rasen earlier this month and seems sure to strip fitter from that pipe opener. Floreana has shown more in Hunters' Chases recently and is taken to claim minor money.

St Killian's Run will have to be respected if turned out again (engaged here yesterday) but BANKSTAIR catches the eye and the lightly raced seven year-old can make a winning return to action. Winner of a similar contest last term, the Nigel Twiston-Davies-trained charge is sure to be cherry ripe for this representing a stable that boasts a terrific record at this venue. Steel Magnate is sure to prove popular for Gordon Elliot with Spirit Calling rating best of the rest.

DESOLAIT gets the nod in the finale after impressing first time out this term at Hexham when she shed her maiden tag. The selection was game in holding on close home over two miles and suggested that this extra half a mile would be no problem. Dark Energy still looks well enough treated at the top of the handicap but while Castletown Boy appears to returning back to something like his best, Manger Hanagment represents the main danger to the selection making his first appearance on these shores for Gordon Elliot.
