GLENORA GALE probably sets the form standard based on her handicap third at Aintree in May, when staying on at the one pace over 2m4f and very much hinting this stiffer test would suit. If building upon a moderate effort at Wetherby subsequently, the selection can get the better of the consistent Tekthelot, who remains a maiden after nine starts over timber, and Ballade De La Mer, who has been kept sharp on the Flat recently.

FORMAL BID looks to have improved under Gordon Elliott and took a forward step on his second start for this yard when fourth at Down Patrick last month. Considering he found no extra in the final stages, this drop in trip is considered a positive and could prove the key factor as he bids to break his hurdles duck at the tenth attempt. Urban Kode remains on a workable mark and shouldn't be far away either, likewise Whisky Galore, who looks the pick of Mark Michael McNiff's raiding Irish duo.

Lord Redsgirth weakened late on over a similar trip at Wexford last time and Sean Airgead, who landed a handicap off 112 when last sighted, probably needs to raise his game another notch to figure on these terms. It might just be worth taking a chance on Lucinda Russell's chasing debutant TITO BUSTILLO, who has placed form to his name in a Grade 2 handicap hurdle and would be a danger to all if translating that form over the larger obstacles today.

SOME FIDDLE has been knocking hard on the door in similar company in Ireland and probably wouldn't need to improve much upon her recent Kilbeggan second - when touched off by just a head over 2m3f - to gain a deserved success over this slightly longer trip. Ryton Runner was third over C&D on his penultimate hurdles outing and is feared most, with Merry Minster appearing to have place claims if reproducing last month's Cartmel second.

SUN TZU completed a five-timer when scoring over C&D 13 months ago and although the handicapper seemed to have his measure thereafter, he exploited a recently declining mark at Southwell when last sighted. Peter Bowen's gelding looks a danger to all given his ability to rack up a sequence and looks capable of shrugging off a penalty. Wave Power and Leac An Scail are holding their form well at present and are others for the shortlist.

LE GRAND CHENE landed a similar contest over 2m5f at Southwell last week and rates the one to beat now turned out under a penalty. Sophie Leech's charge responded well to a first-time visor that day and should go close if the headgear works to similar effect again. Blazin White Face remains 8lb higher than when scoring over C&D in May but looks the main danger ahead of penalised Cartmel scorer Pete, who steps back up in trip.

NAVY LIST scored on his handicap bow over C&D last month and with any cut in the ground ideal, Lucinda Russell's unexposed gelding is taken to defy a 8lb rise. Wheyaye may ideally prefer a slightly stiffer test but is respected on the back of a near miss over 2m2f at Cartmel. Cool Baranca also has place claims but the biggest danger may be Cadore, a stablemate of the selection who has been raised 4lb for finishing second over C&D in May.
