Jullundar clearly has ability, having made the frame in all three starts to date over 1m, but he has earned a rating 5lb lower than RESTRAINT OF TRADE, who sets the standard with his silver medal in a 1m Sandown maiden last time out. The Mahmood Al Zarooni-trained colt is his trainer's sole runner at the meeting and he looks the one to beat. Chant rates best of the remainder.

STEER BY THE STARS was unfortunate to go down by a short head when her rider dropped the reins in the final furlong over 7f at Catterick latest and with this return to her winning distance a big plus, she is taken to defy a 5lb rise in the ratings. Pipers Note landed a Beverley maiden in good style but that was on firm ground and he isn't forced to repeat that form on this slower surface, so the biggest threat may be posed by Ena Sharples. She carries a 6lb penalty for her neck success at Musselburgh latest but has now won two of her last three starts and she likes to get her toe in.

FIRE SHIP could hardly have been more impressive when recording a third soft-ground success over this C&D when last seen in August, recording an eight-length verdict, and if he returns from his short break in the same mood today, an 8lb higher mark is unlikely to be enough to halt him. Mabaany just came up short in a similar event last time out and it may be case of deja vu today, while Carlisle scorer Boots And Spurs also has place claims off a 6lb higher mark.

Saeed Bin Suroor landed this prize in 2008 and 2009 and this year sends up Darley Sun from his Newmarket base. The six-year-old was well beaten on his seasonal reappearance last month but may have needed the run and drops in grade today. The safer option, however, appears to be ZUIDER ZEE who has performed well in defeat in good company this year, including when third in the inaugural American St Leger at Arlington last time out, and this represents an easier assignment. Lieutenant Miller is a decent handicapper over hurdles and is interesting as he makes his Flat debut today.

A double in plating company last month makes Marford Missile an obvious contender but this represents a notable drop in class for OUR BOY JACK and he should prove up to the task. He would surely have landed a good Thirsk handicap last time out had his saddle not slipped at a vital stage and the cut in the ground here will be very much to his liking today. Lisiere can prove best of the remainder.

STUNNING VIEW and Discay are interesting handicap debutants here. The latter improved to finish third when upped to 1m2f here last time out and there could be more to come over this longer trip. He represents last year's winning trainer and is narrowly preferred to John Gosden's charge, who went well over this trip at Lingfield latest and could prove to better than his initial mark of 69 in time. Mr Snoozy looks the best of the more experienced runners following his silver medal in a similar event at Newcastle latest and he scored in similar conditions over this C&D in July.

A big run from Discay in the previous race would boost the chances of A'JUBA, who had Mark Johnston's charge behind in sixth when filling the runner-up berth at Newcastle last month. Prior to that, he was denied by a nose in a HQ maiden and can gain a deserved success in the finale, although Bishop's Castle shaped well on his debut 12 months ago and warrants the utmost respect on his belated reappearance. Guest of Honour also showed ability first time out, over 1m at Kempton 18 days ago, and could be a real player for Marco Botti if taking to turf.
