A chance is taken on PATENTLY representing the stable who won this race 12 months ago. The son of Moss Vale was far from disgraced on his racecourse debut at Newbury last month despite only managing an eighth place finish and he is entitled to have learnt plenty from that experience. Disclaimer has shown enough in previous starts to suggest that he can get involved, while Khelman and He's A Striker look progressive sorts.

INGLEBY EXCEED had two of her chief rivals today (Broctune Papa Gio third and Dolphin Rock seventh) in behind when scoring gamely over C&D last time and she gets the vote to confirm placings in this event, defying a 2lb rise in the process. The other pair mentioned have both clocked up wins of their own since and command respect, but Jo'Burg rates the bigger threat having impressed when beating Rio Grande by almost three lengths over this track and trip two starts ago.

Fulbright must feature high on the shortlist having won half of his ten appearances so far this year, but the dropped-in-class FIREBEAM is marginally preferred. Graham Lee's mount hasn't been disgracing himself at Group level and won't mind forecast soft ground here. Dance And Dance is likely to be running on late in the day and may sneak a place, while Eton Forever can be given another chance having lost both front shoes when finishing down the field at York latest.

Hajam will be out to prove that his runner-up finish in a valuable stakes contest at Doncaster 23 days ago was no fluke, while Hototo, sixth in that event, seemingly doesn't know how to run a bad race and looks sure to give it another good go from the front end here. The vote, however, goes to BODY AND SOUL. This progressive colt is 6lb better off with the latter for a narrow defeat at York on her latest start and she has already proven herself on soft ground.

First Mohican has clearly had plenty of problems since his Yarmouth maiden success back in October 2010 and is taken on with LE CHAT D'OR this afternoon. The form of his three parts of a length defeat at Hamilton latest looks fairly solid with the third and fifth both winning since and the application of first-time blinkers here could help him defy a 2lb rise in the ratings. Come Here Yew is another to note having gone close to winning at Carlisle on his latest outing.

City Ground and Byronic Hero come out top on official ratings but both appear to have fallen out of love with the game and it could pay to take a chance on FREE ART. Recent efforts have been plenty encouraging, the latest on similarly testing ground at Carlisle, and dropping into selling company for the first time this afternoon will make his life a whole lot easier. Zenarinda bounced back to form on the all-weather at Lingfield last time and cannot be ruled out either.

MISSION IMPOSSIBLE won readily on similarly testing ground at Newcastle on Wednesday and a 6lb penalty may not be enough to stop him following up if he can reproduce that level of performance. Tom Sawyer faces an easier assignment than when fourth in a competitive handicap at Doncaster 24 days ago but he wouldn't want conditions too soft, so Come On Dave, a proven soft ground performer, rates the bigger threat.

A few look to have chances in the finale so COMMANCHE RAIDER receives what is only a tentative vote. He ran right up to somewhere near his best when a half-length second over 6f at Thirsk last time and must go close off a 1lb higher mark today providing the ground isn't too testing for him. El Mcglynn went down by the same margin at Hamilton on her latest start and warrants respect, while Majestic Manannan and Select Committee make up the shortlist.
