Lord Avonbrook rattled off a pair of sprint victories in claiming grade before coming unstuck in a 6f Catterick nursery latest. He'll need to improve for this step up in trip to get back on the winning trail, so preference is for MARHABA MALAYEEN, who went close over this trip in maiden company at Musselburgh in July and is lightly-raced outside of maiden company. Stablemate Roland appeals most of the handicap debutants.

Myanne needs to improve for the fitting of a first-time hood if she's to better a disappointing debut sixth at Ripon and the limitations of recent Beverley third Elusive Shadow are obvious given her official rating of 42. Perhaps it might be worth taking a chance on newcomer ANGUS OG striking first time up. The Elaine Burke representative is fitted with an eye-shield on debut but wouldn't need to be anything out of the ordinary to score.

Although WILLBEME's winning sequence was halted (sixth) at Haydock last Friday, it is unwise to assume her improvement has now come to an end. She was taking on superior opposition that day and looks a serious player off top-weight now dropping back into 0-75 company. The thriving Meandmyshadow, an easy winner over this trip at Leicester latest, and C&D winner Lady Del Sol are bidding for hat-tricks and feared most.

GINGER JACK has lost his way somewhat since chasing home Godolphin's Encke at Sandown in July but has been operating at a higher level the last twice. Reverting back to 1m today and back in class 4 company, an improved showing is expected from the Geoff Harker representative. Karaka Jack kept on at the one-pace over 7f at Thirsk latest and will relish this stiffer test, while course specialist Kiwi Bay has dropped to a fair mark too.

GOLD EDITION is making hard work of losing his maiden tag but is unexposed over sprint distances, having been campaigned over 7f to 1m during his career to date. Jeremy Noseda has secured the services of Graham Lee for the job in hand and with an official rating of 75, he sets a clear form standard for the others to aim at today. Elegant Girl and Karate Queen look best of the rest and can battle it out for the silver medal.

Jawaab (engaged to run at Newcastle yesterday) has been knocking hard on the door of late and has an obvious chance on the back of his 2m1f Wolverhampton second if a first-time visor can elicit some improvement over this slightly shorter trip. Marginal preference, however, is for MAYBE I WONT, who is rated 113 over hurdles and suggested he's on a fair Flat mark when landing second over this trip at Newcastle latest. Dr Irv and Finellas Fortune are others for the shortlist.

There could be better to come from Come Hither, who is 7lb higher than when scoring over this trip at Catterick last month but needs to bounce back from a wayward 6f effort at Leicester latest. However, a safer alternative is BROCTUNE PAPA GIO, who regularly runs well over this track and trip and is only 3lb higher than when touched off by a head at the start of last month. Steel Stockholder and Who's Shirl look best of the rest.
