WRENTHORPE hung away his chance when denied by a head over C&D second time out, but should be getting the hang of things now and could gain swift compensation today. Scenic River has shown signs of ability in two starts to date but the biggest threat may come from one of the newcomers, with Andrew Balding's 230,000gns purchase Rux Ruxx and the well-related Aljady looking the pick of them.

A wide-open sprint handicap but there is plenty to like about the chances of GIVE EM A CLUMP, who relished the drop back to 6f on testing ground when winning decisively at Ffos Las last month and similar conditions mean a 5lb rise may not be enough to halt him. Excellent Times continues to run well in defeat and looks sure to mount another bold bid for Tim Easterby, while Gorse improved to make the frame on his handicap debut off this mark at Carlisle and there could be more to come.

I'm Improving didn't live up to his name when a beaten favourite in third at Hamilton latest, but has strong claims on the form of her near-miss on his debut over 7f at Ayr. Preference, however, is for SEA YOUMZAIN, who created a favourable impression when finding only a colt with previous experience too strong over 1m at Leicester first time out and this 90,000-euro filly should have learnt plenty from that experience. Lucky Deal cost 85,000gns and is a half-brother to three winners, including Listed winner Haggle, and warrants plenty of respect on his introduction for Mark Johnston.

MININGROCKS made all in a similar C&D event before weakening late on in a better event at Leicester 13 days ago, and a return to this venue and drop back to selling class could see him back in the winner's enclosure. Traveltalk hinted his turn was near again when going down by three-quarters of a length at Newcastle latest and can ask serious questions late on, along with Little Pippin, who went close to springing a 20/1 surprise over a mile in the mud at Ayr last time out.

EYREBORN had been struggling in recent outings before leaving that form well behind when second at Ayr last time. The way she ran on that day suggests that this extra furlong should suit and she can get the better of Cornerstone Lad, who was an emphatic winner over a couple of furlongs shorter at Pontefract latest. Bodacious Name continues to run with credit and will certainly see out this trip.

Arnarson bounced back to form at Newcastle last time but is not certain to be suited by this trip, while Pudding Chare was less than half a length behind Arnarson at Gosforth Park and might be suited by this step up in distance. VIVE LA DIFFERENCE followed up a close second at Catterick over this trip with another placed effort over 6f at Redcar and can gain reward for that consistency here.

POINT OF WOODS won by a narrow margin last time and while a 3lb rise may seem on the harsh side, the selection will have no problem in handling conditions and has shaped as though he can go on to better things. Mitchum was not beaten far into fourth last time and has claims despite a 4lb higher mark, while Yes You could resume her progress back up in trip after finding five furlongs too sharp at Catterick and she won on her sole visit to this track back in August.

BOLD SPIRIT has been holding his form really well of late, finishing a close-up second at Leicester last time. He's up 2lb for that effort but can take this at the main expense of Awesome Allan, who made it two near-misses in succession when beaten just over a length at Windsor. Mr Michael got back to form with a fair fourth at Navan last time and the Irish raider is well worth a place on the shortlist.
