Journalistic arrives here with the most experience having had the benefit of three starts, earning at rating of 78 in the process. Marcus Tregoning's charge appreciated the cut in the ground when last sighted and any rain in the build up might help. Slight preference, though, is for PILGRIMS REST, who will have undoubtedly come on for his first effort at Sandown where an unfavourable wide draw didn't help. The son of Rock Of Gibraltar is partnered with Richard Hughes, who landed a four-timer at Epsom on Sunday and scored in this race 12 months ago. Circus Mondao, Fine Resolve and Oxford Charley make most appeal of the newcomers.

Juvenal commands the utmost respect on his return to maiden company and while his most recent effort at Kempton was a three-runner event, the form appears to be working out nicely. However, it is interesting that stable jockey Richard Hughes stays loyal to GOLDEN JUBILEE. The son of Zavata is clearly showing promise at home and Hughes obviously feels that his mount will have improved significantly for his debut ninth at Newbury. Positive market vibes for the newcomer Dedication will be worth taking seriously.

Lord Ofthe Shadows clearly has talent in abundance having shaped well this term and with creditable form at this level, he is worthy of consideration. Slight preference is for FROG HOLLOW, who can boast C&D winning form for Ralph Beckett. That particular effort in front of Hannon's My Queenie looks solid enough and the son of Intikhab appeared to win with something up his sleeve. Norse Gold can be forgiven his last effort on soft ground and might represent the value call with underfoot conditions back in his favour.

Avon River regained the winning thread at Folkestone earlier this month under a prominent Richard Hughes ride but it might be worth taking a chance on ORANGE ACE. The Kempton maiden winner displayed signs of a return to form at Redcar in selling company and the step up to 10f is expected to bring out the best in Paul Cole's charge, who was seemingly doing his best work close home over 1m last week. Rock The Stars makes most appeal of the remainder.

Some decent horses have won this conditions race over the years and IHSAS potentially falls into that bracket following a runaway debut success on the all-weather at Lingfield earlier this month. The daughter of Rahy is a sister to Rio De La Plata, who handled ease underfoot on a number of occasions, and she might be able to maintain an unblemished record. This will be no easy task, however, with Gusto dropping from Listed level and Rex Imperator returning to 6f having not been totally disgraced over a furlong further in a red-hot sales race at Doncaster last time. Artistic Jewel was hampered at Doncaster last time and remains a filly of real potential, while the 90-rated Middle Park entrant Arnold Lane is hardly making up the numbers.

The once-raced Iron Range is a fascinating player on his return to competitive action and the betting market should tell a tale, but an initial rating of 85 looks on the stiff side and preference is for SEEKING MAGIC. The Kempton maiden winner has bumped into some nice sorts since being sent down the handicap path and although the assessor has allotted him a 2lb higher mark following a narrow defeat at Bath earlier in the month, the gelded son of Haafhd looks to be progressing all the while and could be up to it. Maze is still fairly treated on the pick of his old form and he seems to have regained some sparkle in recent months.

ZAFEEN'S PEARL looked on the verge of a third career success when just headed late on over 7f at Yarmouth a fortnight ago. Having won over 1m and 1m1f on the all-weather last winter, she should appreciate the step back up in distance and is taken to defy her revised (career high) rating. If unable to do so, the consistent George Thisby and fellow last-time-out scorer Bennelong could be battling it out for top spot.

John Dunlop's three-year-old filly MISS TOPSY TURVY makes a great deal of appeal under a feather weight. The daughter of Mr Greeley hung right and flashed her tail under pressure at Thirsk last time but it didn't prevent her winning and a 6lb rise in the ratings doesn't look overly harsh. If her quirks get the better of her, perhaps Folkestone runner-up Wily Fox will be the one to take advantage, despite being bumped up 2lb for that defeat. Lombok and Penangdouble O One complete the shortlist.
