DOWN TIME performed much better when dropped to this class last time out and perhaps going up to this trip at a less testing venue will help Brian Ellison's charge to a first victory in 12 months. The seven-year-old looks to be on a good mark now and the fact that he is turned out quickly suggests that a big run is expected. Darsi Dancer is a consistent type who has the benefit of past C&D-winning experience, while Onwiththeparty needs a market check for a yard that is 18-52 here in the last five years.

This contest looks to be at the mercy of LITTLE MISS POET, who represents a trainer that rarely has runners at this venue (just two in the last five years) and looks to have by far the strongest form on offer. The five-year-old was beaten at long odds-on last time out but had excuses that day and should be able to return to winning ways. Verona Opera shed her maiden tag over hurdles last time out at Ayr and she should be suited by a return to decent ground, while Hint Of Grey could be another at better value odds to consider.

First-time blinkers didn't help INCHCOLM at Catterick last time out and he should do better now with them removed. A beaten favourite at Catterick last time out, the seven-year-old can resume his earlier progress now back on a decent surface. Urban Gale continues to defy his years and the 12-year-old looked good when second at Southwell earlier this month, while Shake It Up represents Irish raider Jim Dreaper and the booking of 3lb claimer Jonathan Moore looks to be a shrewd move by connections.

4

15:40 Sedgefield (Class 2) (4YO plus)

Mr Clarkson only found a well-regarded type too good at Sandown last time and the five-year-old should find this weaker contest more to his liking. David Pipe's former course winner has won three times this season and that progress is expected to continue at the expense of chief Crackdeloust, who represents last year's winning owner and trainer. Bollin Ace was travelling menacingly at Newcastle before falling last time out, while Justforjames is a reliable type at this level and should give the form a good look to it.

WHITSUNDAYS lost little in defeat when second over the extended 2m3f here earlier in the month and may be able to go one better now cutting back to this shorter trip. Al Reesha makes some appeal on her Fakenham hurdles victory back in October, though she needs to improve on her recent hurdles performances in order to figure on her chase debut. Irish raider Don Franco had a recent spin between the flags to blow away the cobwebs and is also worth a market check.

BORDEAUX BILL romped home by 11 lengths over C&D in January and seemingly relished the step up from 2m. Given the manner of that performance, it is hoped he will be able to defy a penalty to make it 2-3 under Rules. Helmsley Lad, a 2m1f bumper winner here on Boxing Day, is the chief threat.

Alys Rock is 3lb higher than when scoring over 2m1f at Sedgefield in January and should be thereabouts, though marginal preference is for TURTLE CASK, who is expected to improve on his recent performances at Catterick now cutting back in trip and fitted with a first-time visor. Nicki's Nipper has place claims now stepping up from 2m, while Lochalsh, who landed minor money over C&D off 1lb higher in February, could also take a hand.
