Verdict

REFINEMENT, successful in the Champion NH flat race at Punchestown in April, made a winning debut over hurdles at Uttoxeter earlier in the month and is likely to prove hard to beat here. Sweet Oona revealed ability over timber last season and should find a race soon enough, while Retro's Girl has shaped well in bumpers and has to be respected as she takes to hurdles.

EMMASFLORA made the running until the last flight at Market Rasen latest, but still finished a respectable second. She drops in trip today and may prove tough to peg back. One of those likely to give her a hard time is Martovic, who went down narrowly at Bangor last time, while Gordon Highlander lost her pilot at Wincanton on her most recent start, but had run out a convincing winner there on her previous outing.

EARLY START hasn't been seen since finishing second in a Listed race at Newbury in April, but did win a bumper on her racecourse debut, so could be ready for this seasonal return. Latimer's Place beat Inca Trail on his most recent foray, but that was back in November last year and he may need the comeback run, along with Naunton Brook, who's another not to have raced since last November, but has arguably shown his best form after a break.

Not a great deal of strength in depth, which gives MR MISCHIEF a sound chance. Pat Haslam's inmate has improved since moving up in distance and last month's victory over 2m5f at Sedgefield marked him down as one to follow. Potts Of Magic appears a danger following his two length win at Worcester, and note should also be made of Explosive Fox, who is better than his latest fifth at Fontwell suggests, but he may have to settle for a place.

Barton Hill will be popular after his third at Uttoxeter earlier in the month, but so will the lightly raced BOB THE BUILDER. Nigel Twiston-Davies' gelding looked in need of his Huntingdon reappearance when weakening to finish fourth and he should prove stronger in the closing stages this time around.
