Howard Johnson was responsible for the winner of this race 12 months ago and he appears to have another fantastic chance with SUNDAE BEST today. The seven-year-old doesn't have many miles on the clock and he looked better than ever when a close second at Newcastle last time. Baraathen has shown flashes of ability in four starts since tackling hurdles and he could take a step forward now entering handicap company, while Ouest Eclair is no forlorn hope on best form.

Trustan Times did the job nicely over 2m4f on debut here last month and this extra yardage is unlikely to cause any problems, but it's no easy task for these novices' shouldering penalties so SCRIPTWRITER is narrowly preferred. Although still a maiden from eight starts in this sphere, he has run well in a number of top races and, having won five times on the level, he certainly knows where the winning post is. Point-to-point winner Moonlight Drives can't be overlooked on his NH debut.

A competitive looking heat, in which LEASE LEND edges the vote. Tim Easterby's charge ran out a decisive winner over 2m here three weeks ago (albeit helped by a faller at the last) and stepping back up in trip shouldn't pose a problem. A 7lb hike in the handicap looks fair enough. I'm Delilah is the best of Ferdy Murphy's three runners on paper but it's concerning that Graham Lee has jumped ship while Grand Sefton winner Frankie Figg is worthy of consideration.

Palypso De Creek has the ability to score here but he's hard to select having failed to complete on his last four visits to the racecourse so DOUBLE EXPRESSO gets the vote to provide Howard Johnson with yet another Wetherby winner. He was unlucky to bump into the well handicapped Lackamon (who has won again since) over C&D three weeks ago and there should be improvement to come. Chester Lad has five lengths to make up on the selection.

Wayward Prince is likely to have his supporters having extended his winning run over fences at Cheltenham last time out. However, he may have been looking at the runners-up berth had Chicago Grey not fallen and hampered Beshabar, and he may be slightly flattered by the result. In receipt of 7lb from the top-weight, HOLLO LADIES gets the vote. Ferdy Murphy's gelding relished the step up to this sort of trip when opening his chase account at Southwell last month and there could be plenty more to come. Cape Tribulation was a very capable hurdler but is yet to hit the same heights in this sphere.

BABY RUN confirmed himself to be one of the best hunters around when landing the Foxhunter at last year's Cheltenham Festival and although he unseated his rider at Aintree the following month, he is deserving of another chance on his reappearance given his previous consistency. Gypsy George has gone well fresh in the past so his absence can potentially be overlooked. Offshore Account was a Grade 1 winner over fences in his youth and completes the shortlist along with the capable Breaking Silence.

Perfect Ending looked a little one-paced on his debut at Catterick and this slightly longer trip is expected to show him in a better light, while Cool Steel is another that is entitled to come on for the initial experience he gained at Southwell recently. Newcomers Pinerolo and Sinfield also merit consideration, but the one that makes the most appeal is DISTIME. The selection ran well on his first start under Rules in a Musselburgh bumper last time and is expected to improve upon his third placing now stepped back up in trip (won an Irish point over 3m earlier in the season).
