I CONFESS has done the lion's share of his winning at Lingfield but he also goes well here and returned to this track with a decent second over 1m1f last month. The vastly-experienced six-year-old looked as good as ever on that occasion and the move back to his favourite distance can only be deemed a plus. The less exposed Chokidar is lurking dangerously at the foot of the weights and a first-time visor might just eke out a little more improvement in him. At the other end of the handicap, recent Southwell third Bianca De Medici, who won on her only previous attempt over this C&D last October, is not dismissed lightly.

Andalieb and Rio Grande have both shown themselves capable of making an impact at this level but their respective runner-up efforts are nothing out of the ordinary and perhaps one of the newcomers will prove up to the task tonight. Mark Johnston's National Hero is from a good family and is certainly expected to know his job, but marginal preference is for the Sir Mark Prescott-trained NEIGE D'ANTAN. She is a half-sister to Group 3-placed Nataliya, among others, and could take advantage of the fillies' weight allowance.

A strong market move for the Richard Hannon-trained Josam, or either of David Simcock's newcomers, namely Abdul Malik and Gold Falcon, would have to be taken into account, but DELFT is fancied to put her debut experience to good use. Sent off an easy-to-back 10/1 chance over 6f at Kempton in October, the daughter of Dutch Art caught the eye finishing fourth under considerate handling behind Lexington Pearl and, being a half-sister to four winners up to 1m, she is expected to enjoy tonight's longer distance. Going Grey is also entitled to have learnt a great deal from his first public outing at Redcar.

Mr Willis is creeping down to a workable handicap mark but he didn't show enough back at his beloved Lingfield last time out and SEEK THE FAIR LAND looks a safer option. He looked back to his very best when when slamming a useful field at Lingfield last month and a 5lb rise doesn't seem too harsh provided he can repeat the dose at this venue. Lockantanks was also an impressive winner last time out, cruising home by four lengths in a 1m handicap at Kempton just over a week ago, although this represents the toughest task of his career and an 8lb hike in the ratings might just find him out.

FORTY PROOF couldn't quite cope with a return to the minimum trip on his debut for Alan McCabe at Lingfield on Tuesday but he wasn't disgraced in defeat and holds an excellent chance at the weights over the marginally longer distance tonight. Hinton Admiral has to give the selection 6lb but he, too, will appreciate the slight rise in trip following a decent effort in a claimer here in October. Tombi is proving frustrating but has the form to make them all look silly if reproducing his best, while Desert Icon and Silver Turn also feature among a whole host of possible contenders for top spot.

This looks a good opportunity for SILVER BLOSSOM to get off the mark at the third attempt. Andrew Balding's charge stayed on well for third over the extended 1m1f here when last sighted in October - finishing ahead of a subsequent winner in the process - and looks sure to relish this sterner test of stamina. Cloudy Spirit is a talented hurdler and is interesting on only her second Flat outing, while Martine's Spirit has made the frame on her last three starts and should be in the shake-up again.

The line just came in time for The Drunken Dr (was also engaged to run here on Friday) when he narrowly hung on over 1m6f here last time out so he's worth opposing over this longer trip off a 5lb higher mark, and preference is for SUGHERA. A 2m maiden hurdle winner in October, Tony Martin's filly was doing his best work late on when fifth over an inadequate 1m4f on the polytrack and Dundalk last month and should relish the extra yardage on offer on her UK bow. Empyrean has shown very little in three starts over shorter but, like so many of Sir Mark Prescott's runners, she could have much more to offer as she steps up in trip for her handicap debut.

Wigram's Turn has been knocking on the door, including when runner-up here latest, but may have to play second fiddle again, this time to NINA ROSE. The combination of a drop in trip and first-time blinkers did the trick as he scored over C&D from Justcallmehandsome last time out, form which has been boosted by the ninth scoring since, and if the headgear has the same effect tonight, Clive Cox's four-year-old can defy a 4lb rise. Eastern Gift continues to run well well in defeat and looks a solid each-way bet.
