Whozthecat struck over 7f at Thirsk last time but needs to prove his stamina for this longer trip. A safer alternative may be MOUNT CHEIRON, who has been raised 4lb for scoring over track and trip latest and is expected to remain competitive from a low draw. Clary drops back in trip after finishing a creditable course third over the extended 1m1f at Wolverhampton and is another that could play a supporting role.

Master Gunner ran well from the front for a long way when second over 1m2f at Salisbury last month and could go well now fitted with a first-time visor. Narrow preference, however, is for WAKAME, who got up to win by a nose over 1m at Bath last time and is expected to battle on to find what is needed to defy a 4lb rise. The Third Man, second over track and trip latest, is considered the pick of the remainder.

Swift Mover struck in a distance maiden at Salisbury second time out and starts life in handicaps on a fair mark. However, it might be worth taking a chance on the Tom Dascombe-trained top-weight CAJMERE, who lost little in defeat when third in a 5f Chester maiden last time and could benefit from the step up to this longer distance. Others expected to go well are last-time-out winners Just Maybe and Ballyanna.

It is a slight surprise to see both FLOWERS ON VENUS and Russian Realm down in this grade, especially the latter who won a valuable handicap at Goodwood three starts ago. That said, the David Evans representative makes the most appeal at these weights and the step up to 7f should suit this son of Raven's Pass. Of the remainder, Gold Flash and Threebagsue look to be the main dangers.

Tschierschen has been unfortunate not to pick up a race already, having finished second in all three of her starts to date. That said, she can be taken on with AMLAK, who was not disgraced in a Listed race at York in May and faced a tough time in a novice contest against the colts at Chester a month later. Well Done showed promise on debut and is likely to improve for that run, while With One Accord makes plenty of appeal based on her pedigree.

VIVRE POUR VIVRE was well fancied for the London Gold Cup when finishing down the field under Ryan Moore and has been a non-runner on several occasions on account of fast ground. The step up in distance will likely bring about extra improvement and he also has the advantage of the three-year-old allowance. Watersmeet should appreciate the drop in class having finished down the field on his last couple of starts, while Nigel has proven to be more consistent this year and should be thereabouts.

EXCLUSIVE DIAMOND managed to double up last time at Musselburgh when holding on well from Nelson's Bay and the daughter of Iffraaj shouldn't be completely inconvenienced by the step up to 1m4f. Tingo In The Tale appreciated the return to the Flat when second at Kempton last month and has to be respected despite the wide draw, while handicap debutant Want The Fairytale is entitled to improve on the form she has shown to date.
