DUSKY LEGEND was third behind Let's Dance in the Mares' Novices' Hurdle at last season's Cheltenham Festival and went down by just a neck in a Listed contest over 2m4f at the same venue the following month. She's expected to transfer that form over the larger obstacles and give a good account of herself on her seasonal/chasing bow. Copper Kay and Casablanca Mix similarly posted some strong efforts over timber and are others to note now debuting over fences.

GET READY FREDDY has held his form really well since joining Dan Skelton earlier in the year and a third victory from five starts is a realistic possibility following an 8lb rise for scoring over a similar trip at Uttoxeter last time out. First-time cheekpieces could assist consistent hurdler Maximus Maridius now he switches to the larger obstacles, while King Alfonso, who landed a novices' chase over C&D two runs back, could similarly get competitive.

CEREAL KILLER has won back-to-back races in the point-to-point scene and is expected to give a good account on his first run under NH Rules and debut for Paul Nicholls. Timeforben and Global Citizen are others with winning form between the flags who are expected to go well. Having shaped encouragingly when second in a Musselburgh bumper in January, Hattaab is also worth a market check now returning from a break.

Stuart Edmunds' point winner CLONDAW NATIVE could be the one to side with here on his racecourse bow. A five-length winner on that sole appearance between the flags, the son of Golan looks to have a bright future ahead of him. Charlie Longsdon's Some Ambition is another with creditable form in the pointing field and started racing life in that famous flags contest featuring the ill-fated Flemenshill and recent Uttoxeter winner Palmers Hill. Harry Whittington often does well with his newcomers and his 34,000-euros purchase The Go Tou Man is another to consider.

Jonjo O'Neill has his string in fine form and his course and distance winner COUNTER SHY is backed to follow up here in the hands of Richie McLernon. Arthington has to be respected looking to land a hat-trick having scored on his final start last term before returning in fine form at Plumpton, while Dan Skelton's Holryale is entitled to improve on his second at Newton Abbott. Sword Of Fate and Monty's Award are others to consider.

KINGS RYDE made a perfect start to hurdling life with a routine victory at Southwell five weeks ago and the five-year-old can continue his progress here. Nicky Henderson has a 16-43 record with hurdlers here in the last five years and this son of King's Theatre can land this before moving towards better things. Mon Palois wouldn't want any further rain but has won a point-to-point, a bumper and a maiden over the sticks so deserves respect, while The Ogle Gogle Man could prove best of the remainder.

SISSINGHURST hacked up on his first start for Fergal O'Brien at Huntingdon last week and a 7lb penalty might not be enough to prevent the seven-year-old from following up. Well backed on the day, he should be suited by this slight step up in distance and this looks to be another winnable opening. Chevalgris returned to form at Uttoxeter last month and looks poised to go well again, while St Andrews is also considered back in this sphere after winning on the Flat eight days ago.

UNCLE PERCY showed minor promise in novice company last season for Ben Pauling and looks to be on a fair mark of 100 for his handicap bow. The five-year-old should have benefitted greatly for a 254-day absence and this step up in distance looks a positive towards his prospects. State The Obvious won well over course and distance in August and remains on the upgrade for powerful connections, while Innoko has been going well on the Flat and is respected back in this sphere.
