Having run so well when third at Newbury at the end of February, there seemed no obvious reason why MILLITANT MAN should flop so badly when favourite and running off the same mark at Exeter last time. On the balance of form it could pay to forgive the lapse and take him to make full amends. Arctic Shadow was good value for his Fontwell win last time, but that was his first win over timber and he faces a tougher task off 9lbs higher, but should still prove the main threat. Optimistic Alfie looks the pick of the remainder.

I'M A LEGEND broke the ice in good style at Taunton on his penultimate start when fitted with cheekpieces, but then disappointed when favourite at Exeter without them. The aids are back on here and though 8lbs higher in the handicap, he still merits the choice. In a weak contest Bangor winner Romping Home looks the main danger although maiden Hearty Dove is capable of making her presence felt from the bottom of the handicap.

In a very tricky handicap, KELV is taken to bounce back to his best after being given a chance by the handicapper. Jim Old's charge hit winning form at Hereford this time last year and in three runs this season has been below par, but a drop of 3lbs could work the oracle. Precious few of these have much to recommend them, but placed efforts at Huntingdon and Fontwell recently suggest Denise's Dip is on the upgrade while Heebie Jeebie can be given a chance on some of his form.

While hard to assess exactly what PRINCE TAIME has achieved in winning a bumper on this course last May and a novice hurdle by half-a-length at Warwick, there are enough question marks about the opposition to make him the choice. The four-year-old Quinte Du Chatelet comes into the same bracket. A winner in the French provinces on the Flat, he swept to an easy debut success for David Pipe at Taunton last month, but as two of his four rivals, including the odds-on favourite, failed to complete the form may not be worth a lot. Space Mission, a 50-1 shot when winning at Huntingdon in January, is the best of the rest.

In as bad a race as you are likely to found outside a seller, hurdling debutante SPARKLING BROOK gets a very tentative vote. She had obviously shown something before her bumper debut in February as she went off favourite before finishing sixth at Ludlow. A wide margin defeat at Chepstow the following month does not encourage, but she makes more appeal than the rest. Linagram, another to have shown some bumper form can make it a 1-2 for the newcomers and while Kilmeena Magic did finish third over hurdles at Fontwell last time, she never got competitive at any stage.

It's hard to get away from KEKI BUKI, who won stylishly on his debut at Uttoxeter in October and was seen making some late progress for a mid-division finish in the Champion Bumper at Cheltenham last time. He should have too much ability for Blue Dark, even though he is sure to improve on his Wincanton debut and comes from a yard with an excellent record in this type of event. Tanks For That and The Portonion look the pick of the remainder.
