Dashing Doc scored on his handicap bow at Newton Abbot last week and warrants respect now quickly turned out under a penalty. Evan Williams' charge hinted last time that he may stay this extra furlong so a bold bid is expected, however, it might be worth siding with TAE KWON DO, who found his stamina stretched over 2m6f at Ffos Las earlier in the month but had previously won over this distance at Fontwell. Midnight King, second in a maiden hurdle last month, is another to consider now making his handicap debut.

A big run from Tae Kwon Do in the preceding race would boost the claims of Akbabend, who had the beating of that rival on his latest start at Ffos Las. This longer trip is expected to suit Charlie Mann's charge, but TEENAGE KICKS is narrowly preferred. Polly Gundry's gelding was denied a hat-trick when running under a double penalty at Hereford last time but may get back on the winning trail now dropped back in trip and shouldering less weight. Capable chaser Free World is lightly raced in this sphere and worthy of consideration, along with C&D winner Ely Brown.

SUMNER appeared to benefit from the drop back to the minimum trip when scoring at Hereford recently and is expected to notch a quick-fire double now turned out under a penalty. Barron Watlass took third behind the selection that day but will need to jump more fluently if he is to reverse placings on 7lb better terms. Sablazo was a credible second off 1lb lower over C&D earlier in the month and holds place prospects, while the streetwise Naxox has dropped to a good mark and cannot be ruled out either.

LE CORVEE was comfortably held on his most recent outing on the Flat but is better judged on his previous victory in a claiming hurdle at Towcester. The selection is holding his form well over this trip over timber and, importantly for runners in this grade, knows how to get his head in front. Courella warrants respect at the weights as he would be receiving 5lb less from the selection were this a handicap, while the fitting of a first-time visor may also elicit improvement from Evan Williams' charge. Belle De Fontenay is open to further improvement over hurdles and is another to consider.

Crystal Rock is the epitome of consistency and has made the frame on all of his last eight hurdles outings. However, his efforts haven't gone unnoticed by the assessor, who has reacted with slight rises in the weights throughout. SUBURBAN BAY thus gets the vote. Alan King's gelding capitalised on a lenient mark on his handicap debut at Southwell in May and followed up at Uttoxeter when last sighted. He has another 12lb to contend with and is dropping back from 2m7f, but his Southwell success (over 2m5f) suggests he has the speed for this sort of trip and further victories are in the offing. Big Robert appeals most of the remainder.

Rokinhorsescience has edged up 2lb for his Market Rasen second in September but hasn't been sighted since so the vote goes to HEEZAGREY who was a short-head winner over C&D recently but is open to further improvement at the trip and may be capable of defying an 8lb rise. Montana Gold was all out to score over 3m at Ffos Las on his most recent start and although dropping back to this shorter trip may aid his chances of being able to dominate (if front running tactics are again employed), his latest 7lb rise in the weights could leave him vulnerable to better treated rivals.

Barton Stacey won over C&D in May and carries a 7lb penalty as a consequence. David Pipe's charge is respected with conditions known to suit but, with his weight concession, it might be worth siding with fellow track and trip scorer TARA ROSE, who has improved with both runs to date and looked one to keep on the right side of when making every yard of the running to score here last week. Shades Of Autumn looked very green when third over C&D at the start of the month but, if settling better with the run now behind him, is another capable of going close.
