There’s live action on the main Sky Sports Racing channel this Monday from Romford's early card plus the evening action at Nottingham featuring the final of BGBF British Breeders Stakes at 9.11.
Patrick Janssens is responsible for four of the six finalists and he will be disappointed if he leaves Colwick Park without the trophy tonight. His best chance might just be with the well-drawn ROMEO EMPIRE in the three box.
He comes here unbeaten in the event and has that mix of speed and stamina over this trip. He should have the legs of the two runners on his inside into the first bend and then needs to worry about his team mates Ability and Tomcat. With the lack of a wide running finalist Tomcat again has to wear the striped jacket tonight which doesn't really suit and we know the Derby is his main target. That and slow starts have made life tough for the pre-competition favourite so far so I am happy to oppose him again.
Romeo Ability looks more of a player in four although I think being drawn outside Empire could be tricky. It could be a case of who gets first run out of three and four will decide this. Janssen's other finalist Fabulous Heka is a credit to her trainer but ideally wants further and she has a trappy looking draw in five.
Earlier in the evening PLATINUM HONEY went into the notebook when she finished second last week and can go one better this evening in the 6.53.
Jill Llewellin's bitch should be approaching her peak now post seasonal rest and she showed plenty of early pace here last Thursday. She should lead the inside duo without too many issues here and should go well clear in the opening half of the race. She seemed to stay well before her seasonal break so I can't see her being picked up if in front.
There's a decent A1 race early on the televised Romford card (11.43) which can go the way of BOMBAY JUPITER.
Paul Young's consistent performer again ran with credit here last Wednesday when a slower than usual start probably cost him the win chance. The brindle is capable of a fast start and with trap four being vacant here he should lead up in the centre before kicking on down the far side.
