“Tony Montana (Goodwood 14:35) isn't the most reliable, as he has struggled to finish in front recently, but he's another well-handicapped performer and could enjoy this step back up in distance in potentially slightly softer conditions.
He finished strongly over a mile-and-a-quarter here at the Goodwood Festival when last seen, running well under 7lb claiming Toby Moore at odds of [18/1] to finish a luckless fourth, having performed with some credit at Newbury and York in his previous outings this term, far from disgraced on either occasions.
Previously trained by Michael Bell, he was narrowly denied on the Knavesmire last season for his former trainer, and also finished second at [14/1] in a competitive 21-runner Curragh handicap from his current rating of 94. This assignment could suit perfectly and he may be worth keeping the faith in for Kevin Philippart De Foy.”

Betfair Big Race Verdict: Zavateri can give backers cause for Celebration
“Zavateri (Goodwood 15:10) as the [2/1] favourite has to answer a few questions, but the trade off against that is this looks a Group 2 that is hardly endowed with a garland of stars, and it could well be that Johnson Houghton's younger gun could twinkle the best.
Okay, he disappointed at York last week and it's a quick turnaround, but that was a pretty hot City Of York and perhaps the 7f there was too quick for him.
His fifth in the Sussex Stakes again a ladder too high, and he's not jousting with 120+ performers in this race. Personally, I think he is a pretty solid [2/1] shot here, although I doubt he'll want a deluge.”

Alan Dudman: Forty Years On will be right at home at Goodwood
“Forty Years On (Goodwood 14:00) has been seen just once this season, on good to soft ground at Newbury with a victory back in June. One suspects that her trainer George Scott has had to wait for some rain as the overall profile looks more towards a horse who appreciates cut, in keeping with her sire Mayson.
It was a fairly devastating performance on the straight track over 7f at Newbury as she coasted along out the back and cut through the pack with a sharp turn of foot - running the final 3f far quicker than any other rival, and it was the start of that burst at the 3f marker when he produced the 11.08 second furlong.
With that speed, she should find himself at home at a track like Goodwood and it seems to be the feature of his performances as last term when so progressive he scooted away from a held up position with a fast final furlong.
