Doncaster - Saturday 20th June 2026
Gliding Martha outran odds of 18/1 when filling the runner-up spot on her introduction at Lingfield and could play a leading role, but it may pay to side with VEGAS LIGHTS. Richard Hannon's filly showed ability when making the frame on debut at Leicester last week and with that experience under her belt, she looks the one to beat. Any market support behind newcomer Aminaty would be interesting.
SEVEN SISTERS has gone close on both starts so far, finishing second at Salisbury prior to being beaten a neck into third over an extended mile at Wolverhampton. This further step up in distance promises to unlock more improvement and she looks the way to go. Chimes Of Thunder failed to justify favouritism when only fifth at Windsor, but she might be worth another chance for the in-form William Haggas yard. Khepri can beat Hollywell Stream home for third.
Chale Chalo was just touched off after being gelded when taking the silver medal at Southwell on New Year's Day and is of interest on his return. However, TOASTMASTER had French Affair a head behind when finishing a close third over track and trip earlier this month and can confirm that form to record his first career success. Handicap debutant Gesayed is another to keep an eye on.
The Green Man ticks plenty of boxes having won here twice over 6f, and with a victory over this trip on Newcastle's all-weather back in December. Although down the field at York last week, he could bounce back to his best but TALIS EVOLVERE is narrowly preferred. Second on soft at Goodwood, despite losing a shoe, the better ground can help him win for the seventh time. Monsieur Bondy could surprise a few.
Lumenbourg made all to win at Carlisle and if he can slip his field again, an added 4lb from the handicapper may not halt his progress, although he will need to find more to cope with top-weight RAN AMOK. Second in a much stronger race at Chester and only beaten a head, that was his first start following wind surgery and he should do even better now. Sugar Baby is the pick for third.
Oasis Sunrise continued her upward trajectory when completing a double at Leicester and a quick turnaround shouldn't halt her progress. That said, she is effectively 6lb higher given the switch of jockeys, which could leave the door open for TROJAN TRUTH. Ed de Giles' seven-year-old is 9lb better off for a two-and-a-half-length defeat at the hands of Oasis Sunrise at Chepstow and he can turn the tables. The lightly-raced Kurios Lady is a feasible alternative.
Having progressed with each outing, CRANACHAN makes plenty of appeal on his handicap debut. Ralph Beckett's gelding arrives on the back of a ready victory at Catterick and an official rating of 81 looks workable. My Ballyquinn came good at the fourth time of asking at Hamilton and should have more to offer, while Asia Force is a potential improver stepping up in distance.
CASH COVE, despite finishing in mid-field on her only two starts, showed both consistency and promise doing so and is entitled to come on today. Vegas Lights was third on debut and could improve for the initial experience, while Heldobeldo is in a similar boat, having finished runner-up in both her career starts so far.
SEVEN SISTERS has been placed on both starts so far and could do enough to get in front this time. Hollywell Stream showed promise on debut but dropped right down in form when sixth of six last time and will need to prove she can bounce back from that. Chimes Of Thunder has been a little inconsistent but might appreciate a step up in trip.
FRENCH AFFAIR seems a largely consistent sort, and has finished in the placings plenty despite not winning since last summer. What's more, he doesn't carry too much. Toastmaster remains a maiden, but his form includes plenty of placed efforts and, well handicapped, today could be his day (or at least a day for another good run and placing). Flight Control won in April and has stayed in pretty good form since. He does, however, have a heavy enough handicap to overcome.
OBELIX showed real promise when winning a handicap at Wetherby last time out but, having gone into that off the back of a few below-par runs, will need to prove it was no fluke. He will, however, surely enjoy today's trip and underfoot conditions. Goldmoyne earned a string of victories earlier this year and has run creditably since, despite paying a price in the weights. Leadman is a prolific runner, though not a prolific winner, but could use a fine mark to his advantage.
YACHTSMAN won his penultimate start and doesn't carry too much to prohibit him from winning again, particularly as he finished only a length and a quarter off the winner last time out. Lumenbourg won last time out, albeit over different ground to what he'll like face today, while Sugar Baby won in October and has been far from disgraced since.
TROJAN TRUTH looks well weighted and came back into form in a run over 12f at Chepstow last time. Bulldog Spirit, meanwhile, though largely consistent, has yet to enter the placings this season and last won more than a year ago. Kurios Lady has been a little inconsistent but isn't unfairly weighted and, if having a going day, should show plenty.
CRANACHAN comes off the back of success at Catterick in April but has to defy hefty handicapping if he's to win again here. Asia Force has been knocking about in the placings so far in his career but could go one better if taking advantage of the weight carried by Cranachan. My Ballyquinn, however, shouldn't be ruled out, having won last time out despite being a little inconsitent before that.
