LADY HARLEQUIN finished a clear 2nd on debut over 1000m behind a more experienced rival and she will be hard to beat if making the expected improvement. MOLTEN ROCK will also have more to offer with the benefit of an introductory outing under her belt. The betting should guide to the chances of the newcomers, of whom well-bred ROYAL TIARA appeals most. USHOULDBEDANCING and SNOW IN SWEDEN are others to note.

SKY PILOT, WILLOW CHARM and ARIZONA MAGIC have the form and experience to be competitive but they are relatively exposed so vulnerable to younger rivals, STAGE ONE and SABALENKA. The latter caught the eye when 2nd on debut (albeit against 2yo fillies) and with natural improvement expected, it could pay to follow her progress under bottom weight. Well-bred 3yo PERIODIC TABLE and 2yo colt FLOTILLA warrant respect on debut, especially if the market speaks in their favour.

GATHERING WINTER and ERIK'S GIRL should be competitive if building on the improvement of recent displays. DESTINY'S DREAM showed enough in the Western Cape to warrant respect on her Highveld debut, and she remains open to improvement in her first start for a new stable. DRACHENFUTTER can have a say in the finish if making further progress after a last-start 4th over track and trip. However, she is held on that meeting by RUBY WHISPER whose form and consistency sets the standard and deserves to be rewarded. SECRET LIFE and SPRING TIDE can earn minor money.

BAY EMPIRE, MICHAEL FARADAY and SOUTHAMPTON are closely matched on the form of last month's 1450m Inside track meeting and there shouldn't be much separating them. BAY EMPIRE subsequently finished 2nd over track and trip - a repeat of that performance off an unchanged mark could suffice. Class-dropper MOCHA FRAPPE needs luck from the widest draw but isn't taken lightly at this level off a reduced rating. Lightly raced PALACE GUARD, hard-knocker LIBECCIO and veteran KOTINOS can also get a look in.

ZALATORIS got the better of CHARMING CHEETAH in their recent clash over 1160m and there should be little between them again, with the latter 1kg better off for that one-length beating. MIAMI MOUNTAIN had both behind him when winning a course-and-distance Grade 3 two starts back. The blinkers worn that day are refitted so it wouldn't be a surprise should that recipe for success yield a similar result. KAALVOET improved with a full set of alumites fitted to win his last start and there could be more to come from him, even under a penalty.

CHAPBOOK wasn't disgraced conceding weight to the winner in a Grade 3 race over 1100m when last seen. He is unbeaten over this trip and races off the same mark with a full set of alumites for the first time, and although under a big weight it could be worth siding with him. Fillies POBLANO and VANAKKAM are favourably treated by the conditions and weighted to play leading roles. Speedy RAFA BAY is more effective over 1000m and should feature prominently.

Highly rated PIVOTAL ROLE steps up in class under a 6-point penalty but he is progressive and could improve sufficiently to win again in his peak outing. HIS LORDSHIP, IT'S PERSONAL, ANTONIO GAUDI and TWENTYTWENTYVISION have the form and experience at this level to expose chinks in the 3yo's armour. ESQUEVELLE and HALBERDIER are capable of better than their disappointing recent displays suggest and could make their presence felt if bouncing back to earlier form.

Speedy EL ZANI faded tamely out of contention when trying 1200m and the return to this shorter trip should yield a more competitive showing. TIME WILL TELL finished ahead of that rival and is effective over 1000m so may represent the value off his current mark. WAITING ON CHARLIE and SERGEANT SOQRAT should have roles to play if building on the improvement of their recent 2nd-placed efforts. INAFIX and ZOOMBOMBER aren't taken lightly, while class-dropper THERE SHE GOES should be more of a threat at this level.
