A difficult race to assess with all of the runners making their first appearance and the market will provide plenty of clues. However, with Jeremy Noseda having a great year with his juvenile representatives, it may prove wise to side with his DODGE CITY. Frankie Dettori is a significant booking for the ride as the pair have a fantastic strike rate together this term and the Gone West colt is marginally preferred on breeding to both Winged Flight and Paceman.

Mark Johnston has his string in fine order at the moment and his ARMIGERANT looks certain to lose his maiden tag sooner rather than later. His recent effort to be second in the Group 2 July Stakes is easily the best form on offer in this contest and a reproduction of that would see him difficult to beat. There are, however, some interesting opponents, with Richard Hannon's Norisan heading the charge of the remainder. Prince Of Elegance is also respected but may not quite be good enough.

Alan Jarvis has landed this event for two of the past three season's but his Love On Sight doesn't look like strengthening that record. The way John Gosden's PINKABOUT overcame greenness on her debut to win in decisive fashion caught the eye of many and there is every chance she will be much the better for that experience. Although she has a bit to find with the form principals, there is no doubt she is highly regarded and she quickened away in good style that day. Alzerra is a clear danger, along with Simply Perfect.

Last year's winner New Seeker has to be given a chance off just a 3lb higher mark, but this could prove to be a stronger renewal. A chance is taken on MINE being able to defy his 3lb penalty for his Bunbury Cup success earlier this month. Despite his age, he seemed better than ever on that occasion and, with him at his best in big field handicaps, there is every chance he could follow up. The trip and ground are ideal and he can get the better of Hinterland.

An intriguing international battle, with Japanese, French and British based trainers mounting the main challenge for the honours. Hurricane Run and Heart's Cry are obvious contenders and it would be no surprise to see either come home in front. The former looks the main danger and, if the rain comes, he should go very close. However, with Godolphin's team in such great order at the moment, ELECTROCUTIONIST may be the one to be on. The presence of pacemaker Cherry Mix will ensure a decent gallop and he is versatile with regard to ground conditions.

The progressive Paraguay hasn't stoppoed improving since being sent to Vicky Haigh and he has solid claims. Mine Behind took this last year, when the race was run at Newbury, and he couldn't be ruled out of another big effort. A chance is taken with BLUE JAVA though, who is fully proven in the hurly-burly of large field handicaps and has a valuable 5lb taken off his back by the useful Francesca Cumani. He comes here on the back of a victory at Goodwood and a 4lb rise for that success doesn't look overly harsh.

Boo was in front of both Divine Gift and IMPELLER at York in the John Smith's Cup, but he is worse off at the weights here and this race is sure to be more of a tactical affair. The latter of those is selected as he wasn't done any favours by the draw that day. Willie Muir has his horses in good order and his charge has done most of his winning in smaller field events, so won't be inconvenienced by only seven runners. Desert Realm can't be discounted.
