The veteran Dr Rio ran out a comfortable winner on his latest outing at Carlisle and is likely to be competitive once again, despite a 6lb rise. A return to turf may benefit Shimmering Sands as he seeks a third victory of the campaign, but the vote goes to GREAT BLASKET. The six-year-old is relatively unexposed over 1m2f and has held his form well since joining James Owen.
Austrian Theory has slipped to a competitive mark and will be happier back on a sounder surface, so should go well, but having returned to winning ways in fine style last time, it's possible the 10yo DR RIO can go back-to-back at a course he loves. His rating has risen 6lb, but he's gone well from similar marks before and earns the call here. Mao Shang Wong, back to form at Newcastle last time, is a former C&D winner who should go well once more.

A competitive event for the grade which can see PRINCE KAMEO land the hat-trick after he stepped forward recently with victories at Lingfield and Thirsk. Another 5lb hike doesn't appear overly harsh and Sir Mark Prescott's gelding could prove too strong for High Calibre, who finished a place in front of Emerald Bay when runner-up on his nursery bow at Newmarket. The latter is capable of being in the mix in a first-time visor, while Court Legend shouldn't be discounted following his first success here at the end of last month.
COURT LEGEND seemed to improve for testing ground when getting up late here last time, but he's shown form on a sounder surface and it's possible the longer trip here will offset the drier ground. He surely has more to offer from his current mark. Prince Kameo is chasing a hat-trick and will be suited by the slightly longer trip, so looks the danger with the chance of more to come for his good yard. Emerald Bay, swapping blinkers for a visor, can go well also but needs a little more to get back winning.

HIDDEN GIFT makes plenty of appeal with her sights lowered after her efforts at Royal Ascot and Glorious Goodwood. Those clearly set the standard and the Faheys appear to have found a decent opportunity for her to shed the maiden tag. Myesme went close to making a winning debut at Ayr and shouldn't have any issue with dropping in trip. Halliwell Stream was last seen when fourth at Nottingham behind Prix Morny heroine Senorita Bonita and is respected along with Duty's Call, who sports first-time cheekpieces.
This should be the day HIDDEN GIFT gets off the mark. Fifth in the Albany, when just found out by the stiff 6f, she backed that up in a good conditions race dropped to 5f at Glorious Goodwood and now drops into a Class 4. The main danger is expected to be Duty's Call, who showed improved form when runner-up at Chester last time. She now gets first-time cheekpieces and should come on again. Myesme, runner-up at Ayr on debut, and Halliwell Stream, back from a break, are others to consider.

Mubehir needs to prove his second over C&D when sent off at 125/1 wasn't a fluke and a subsequent gelding operation might be something to aid his cause. However, FLORAL MAID appears likely to have his measure. Brian Ellison's filly shaped with plenty of promise when runner-up here at the end of last month and a repeat of that effort might suffice. Fancied Angel and newcomer Woodvale and are others to consider.
The standard is set by FLORAL MAID, who finished runner-up over 5f on heavy ground here on debut. Conditions are drier now but she's bred to handle it and it the percentage call in what looks a weak enough race. James Tate's newcomer Woodvale could emerge as the main threat with the handler more than capable of readying one. Others to consider are Mubehir, an improved second at huge odds last time, and Spectacular Diver, below form in handicaps of late but considered on earlier novice efforts.

Almarada Prince and Qila have both been knocking on the door of late and they are forecast to be in the thick of the action. However, they could fall short once more if DESERT TREASURE finds a little bit of improvement. The three-year-old posted her best effort since moving into handicaps when finishing a close-up second at Lingfield and a better start may see her go one better.
Call To Action has been holding his form well and will find this less competitive than York last time. He should go well but there could be a bigger effort still in the filly DESERT TREASURE. She finished off well when runner-up at Lingfield last time and, although up slightly in the weights and back into a Class 4, she's taken to land her first handicap. Straight Ahead, runner-up the last twice, gets first-time cheekpieces now and they could help make the difference. He's third choice.

Having found only two experienced rivals too strong on debut at Goodwood, this could prove a suitable opportunity for ROKU NANA to open her account. Roger Varian's filly stayed on nicely that day and she could prove a touch too strong for main danger Zephyra. The daughter of Kingman has filled the runner-up spot on both outings to date and another good account is forecast. Ed Bethell's newcomers Engedi and Benedetti are worth a glance in the betting.
This looks a good opportunity for ROKU NANA, Roger Varian's filly having shaped really well over 8f at Goodwood on debut. She looked to just need the experience and should have no issue with the drop to an extended 7f. Zephyra, twice a runner-up over 6f at Newmarket's July course, should benefit from the longer trip here and looks the danger with newcomer Engedi, one of two for her trainer, worth a market check on debut.

Evelyn's Phoenix's stamina appeared to be stretched in soft underfoot conditions when third over 1m2f at Ripon and he merits strong consideration reverting to handicap company. However, ABU ROYAL arrives on the back of a close-up second at Musselburgh and compensation may beckon in a retained visor. Although Hostelry finished behind the selection in sixth that day, an improved performance is forecast over this extra yardage.
EVELYN'S PHOENIX is coming off a fair effort at Ripon, when perhaps just stretched by 10f on soft, and the slight drop in trip on a sounder surface should suit him ideally while he's 3lb lower than when scoring at Nottingham earlier in the year. The danger is Abu Royal, back to his best Musselburgh last time, although Willowinghurn will be suited by the step back up in trip having run well down to 7f at Musselburgh latest.
