It's worth taking a chance on DAUNT to break his duck. He looks to be going the right way after four starts, finishing a running-on second in a 5f Sandown nursery last month and, over a more suitable trip and with less on his plate, can land the spoils today. The danger looks to be Sweet Ovation, a C&D winner last month and a real threat of reproducing that form. Thirsty Bear and Middleton Flyer are not out of it either.

Special Boy is a well bred sort but hasn't shown too much in his two starts and needs to improve. Amadeus Wolfe Tone also has something to find after two starts but has less on his plate than when sixth in a hot Chester maiden and should get closer now. However, LADY PERCY swerved right at the start on her debut over 6f at Salisbury but ran on well to eventually take fourth. She looks the one to be on here.

Both Cheherazad and MAP OF HEAVEN have had plenty of chances and are looking exposed but while the former has been running exclusively in maidens, the latter has some good form in handicap company. Back in a maiden, she's worth giving one more chance. Amazing win has been well held in five starts but has shown signs of ability and should lead the rest of the field home.

Consistency isn't the strong suit of Italian import SOPRAN NAD but there is no doubting his ability, with two wins - including a C&D success - in his last four starts. He went close off this mark at Wolverhampton latest and, with better form on turf, gets the nod here. All-weather specialist Spinning Ridge just missed out at Wolverhampton latest but has yet to show the same ability on turf while Doctor Hilary has claims if recapturing his old form.

SHANNON SMILE carries a 6lb penalty following her 1m Kempton success last week but looks the one to be on here. She scored with plenty in hand, has proved she acts on turf and should be open to further improvement. Loxton Lad, fourth over 7f at Leicester latest, is clearly improving and could be the one for the forecast while Always Ends Well and Doctor Banner are not without chances.

Mr Udagawa won over C&D latest and could defy a 5lb rise with a similar effort but he's not the most consistent. The penny appears to have dropped for Anna Fontenail, fourth over 1m 2f here last month, and she should go close but it's worth siding with PHLUKE, another inconsistent sort but one who has won off much higher marks in the past. He looks in good form at present and could have the edge in this company.

TWO TURTLE DOVES seemed suited by this stiff 5f last week, when getting up close home in an apprentice handicap. She races today off a 2lb lower mark - and is 8lb better off with the second, Colourbearer, who has won since and carries a 6lb penalty today. Adventure Story, second in her last two starts, looks the danger but might need some help from the handicapper in order to get her head in front again.
