If allowed to take her chance following yesterday's hard fought victory at Carlisle, Smart Violetta could play a leading role again but preference is for STAR ADDITION, who might represent a little bit of value. The gelded son of Medicean has struggled a little on turf lately but returns to the all-weather scene off a 2lb lower mark for his C&D victory last October. Fellow course winner Beach Babe is another with sound claims as the three-year-old aims to build on a back-to-form fourth here late last month.

KIWAYU could be worth backing on just his second public outing this evening. The Medicean colt wasn't at all disgraced on his debut at Kempton last month and will have learned a lot from the occasion. He could prove tough to beat with considerable improvement likely, but it would also be dangerous to rule out the chances of Fa'iz, who consigned his first effort to the past when a highly creditable second over this trip at Chester. The Sir Mark Prescott-trained Poncho, a daughter of Cape Cross, could prove the pick of the newcomers.

Roodee Queen enjoyed five consecutive wins throughout the summer months but the handicapper appears to have her measure now so the vote goes to KATY'S SECRET. The William Jarvis-trained filly is taking a notable step up in class but a 6lb rise in the ratings for last month's Yarmouth triumph doesn't loot too harsh and she already has winning all-weather form in the book, albeit on the deeper Fibresand surface at Southwell. Caelis continues to give a good account of herself at this level and appeals most of the others.

Lucky Money is becoming exposed having had five attempts at shedding his maiden tag, but an official mark of 75 means he should be capable of picking up a race before long. Sir Mark Prescott's charge is respected accordingly, as is the 74-rated Chillie Billie, who arrives with a similar profile, but FANTASTIC SMARTIE gets the vote. This is no easy task for the filly against the boys but she punched above her weight on debut at Warwick last month when finishing second at a largely unconsidered 20-1. She shaped like this longer trip would be right up her street and can be a serious player here with improvement a distinct possibility.

Stilettoesinthemud must be considered carefully as the filly is 2lb well in under her 6lb penalty for winning at Redcar a week ago. Circuitous carries the same penalty for a neck success at Carlisle recently and is another to consider, but the hat-trick seeking DANGEROUS ILLUSION is preferred. The Mick Quinn-trained Statue Of Liberty filly certainly seems to be getting the hang of things now and is taken to defy a 6lb hike in the ratings for her latest cosy win over this C&D.

Ian Semple's The Fiery Cross doesn't look badly treated on his all-weather debut and the fitting of a visor could spark some improvement. The booking of Kieren Fallon for Francis Albert suggests a big run is expected from him, but it could pay to side with CHEEKY WEE RED. Richard Fahey's filly was third over this C&D in maiden company on her seasonal bow and might appreciate the return to an all-weather surface having struggled to make much of an impact in good to soft conditions on her handicap debut at Hamilton last time.

An interesting handicap to untangle and EAGLE NEBULA makes most appeal having bounced right back to form in recent months. His narrow short-head defeat at Newmarket last time following two narrow victories in selling company and his revised mark (4lb higher) doesn't appear beyond him. The relatively unexposed Albertus Pictor and Southwell specialist Irish Jugger are both impossible to discount at the shortlist stage.
