After blowing away a subsequent winner by seven lengths in a Chester maiden, SALATEEN went well in fifth in what looked an above-average renewal of the Group 3 Acomb Stakes and is clearly fairly useful. Kevin Ryan's 80,000gns son of Dutch Art could be up to defying a mark of 92 on his nursery bow. However, conceding 14lb to Only Joking may not be easy as Hugo Palmer's charge showed marked improvement to land a Thirsk maiden with ease last month and there could be more to come. Richard Hannon's When Will It End is rising in the weights despite not winning but could have his say again.

Beaten less then three lengths in the Coventry and not much further in the July Stakes, ANGELIC LORD is used to mixing with some of the top juveniles about and should be tough to beat now eased in class. He is miles clear on official ratings and doesn't have to concede any weight to Growl or Markaz, the latter of whom has silver medal claims after filling the runner-up spot in a strong-looking Goodwood nursery. Fuwairt and Prince Bonnaire get 2lb from the aforementioned trio and the latter's effort in a Listed contest at Ripon 16 days ago gives him claims of a medal.

Roger Varian won this race 12 months ago and this year relies on STEPS, a C&D winner who has been mixing it in Group 1 company of late. He was successful when last seen at Listed level in May and any cut in the ground would be to his liking. After proving sub-fertile at stud, 2012 Middle Park hero Reckless Abandon went close at HQ on his reappearance and, entitled to come on for that pipe-opener, he is a big threat. Kingsgate Native has run several big races in defeat this year and should be in the firing line again, while any ease underfoot would suit Mecca's Angel.

Andrew Balding has his string in fine form at present and a big run is expected from his Comanchero, who has remained in good heart since in Chester win in July, and has the assistance of Kevin Darley in this legends race. However, Goerge Duffield could have the best mount in TIGER JIM as Jim Goldie's four-year-old was doing his best work at the finish when scoring over 7f on his penultimate outing and should relish the step up to a mile. Mixed Message bids for a three-timer today after selling victories over 1m2f at Ripon and looks the best of the rest.

RED GALILEO is well treated at these weights receiving the weight-for-age allowance and dropped out of pattern company for the first time since landing a novice stakes contest at Kempton in October last year, he could prove difficult to beat under top-class jockey Andrea Atzeni. Nabucco comes out top on official ratings and is another dropping in class, so he must come into the reckoning, while C&D scorer Clon Brulee has been progressing through the handicap ranks and shouldn't be underestimated with Ryan Moore booked to ride.

MARMOOM shades the verdict in a fiercely competitive handicap. Still relatively unexposed with only six starts under his belt, he comfortably regained the winning thread over this trip at Newmarket last month and the handicapper appears to have let him off lightly with just a 4lb rise. Wilde Inspiration has either won or been placed in each of his five starts so far this year and should be in the shake-up again, while Azagal and Basil Berry, both of whom boast winning C&D form (along with Evening Attire), also merit consideration.

It could pay to side with DANGEROUS AGE in what looks a tricky 'getting out stakes' for punters. Representing a Charlie Hills stable who boast an impressive level stakes profit with their runners at the East Yorkshire venue, the four-year-old has hinted that her time is near with a couple of runner-up finishes at Bath recently and the booking of Ryan Moore, who is two from three when teaming up with the filly, is a huge positive for her followers. Pea Shooter is just 2lb higher than when beaten a nose at Beverley and should be on the premises again, while last-time-out winners Tom Sawyer and Oldjoesaid add further spice to the race.
