Nylon Speed has been a model of consistency on the all-weather and has to be given the utmost respect reverting to turf. However, preference is for another to thrive on the synthetics through the winter, GET BACK GET BACK, who was a winner on his first attempt at this distance on his handicap debut at Kempton and wasn't far away when seeking to follow up at the same venue. He makes plenty of appeal having undergone wind surgery during his four months off. Thaqaffa is respected following his Kempton second despite the burden of top weight, while Nuits St Georges was third here a year ago and is 1lb lower now.

Last year's winning handler Mark Johnston can repeat that feat with MOUNTAIN DREAMS, who is a half-sister to a Listed-placed filly. Great Image is a well-related Godolphin newcomer who should prove popular, while Taxiwala is a 50,000gns Book Two purchase and a half-brother to a two-year-old winner over this distance. Red Reflection and Ocasio Cortez are others from top stables to consider.

JABALALY found just Space Traveller too good on his debut here last June and with the winner going on to acquit himself well at Group level, the form suggests he should have a leading chance on his comeback. Chatham House was a consistent two-year-old last season and hit the crossbar when reappearing at Kempton last month, while Godolphin's 200,000gns purchase Jalaad has been gelded since finishing second at Lingfield on his introduction in the autumn. Lyndon B, as well as newcomers Alkaraama, Destination and Secretarial, all require a market check.

Roger Varian has started the new campaign in blistering form and the Newmarket handler has a cracking chance with seasonal/handicap debutant FUJAIRA PRINCE. The Pivotal gelding won both four-year-old starts by an aggregate of 12 lengths and, potentially a Pattern performer in the making, he can exploit an opening mark of 88. Lunar Jet returned to the Flat with an impressive five-length success at Newbury and should remain competitive off 8lb higher. Central City and Awake My Soul also merit shortlist inclusion.

Sapa Inca would have got up in another couple of strides on her seasonal/handicap debut at Kempton and she must enter calculations switching back to turf off 1lb higher, while Rowland Ward merits consideration on his handicap bow despite being turned over at skinny odds at Pontefract. The vote, however, goes to Martyn Meade's PALLADIUM. Also entering the handicap ranks for the first time, he showed that he has improved from two to three years when runner-up in a Wolverhampton maiden and this opening mark of 73 is workable.

EXCELLENT TIMES suggested that she can win a race off this kind of mark when narrowly beaten at Haydock when last seen in July and she makes plenty of appeal on her seasonal return. Javelin is an obvious threat to the selection having won well at Lingfield earlier in the month, especially as she may have more improvement left to come. Others to note are Agincourt and Silca Mistress.

A tricky race to close the card but marginal preference is for MASTER MATT, who was only narrowly beaten on his last few starts as a juvenile and he should be capable of winning a race of this nature. House Deposit has won two of his last three and is an obvious threat, with Major Blue and Dancing Rave also meriting consideration.
