Henry Howard put in his best performance to date last time when second at Limerick and should appreciate the step up in distance, but seems to be a resolute galloper and may need a softer surface to be at his optimum. Preference is for CARNDUFF who returns to the track after an 18-month absence and it seems notable that his high-profile owners haven't sold him in the interim. His best effort in bumpers came on good ground and he could prove too good for his main market rival. Tsundoku could well improve for decent ground.

MORE THAN EVER got off the mark in her third maiden hurdle at Tramore under Davy Russell and has the assistance of Bryan Cooper on her handicap debut, where she could well find more improvement in this sphere. Annie Alainn ran well off a 6lb higher mark last time at Fairyhouse and could prove to be very competitive back in mares company, while Mystic Princess finished sixth behind Shrewd at Musselburgh and could improve for encountering decent ground.

A competitive handicap where LAIRD OF MONKSFORD appeals plenty having his first run for Gordon Elliott after leaving Donald McCain's yard last season. A mark of 88 should prove workable for his astute trainer to find some improvement in the jumping department. Theo has the assistance of Conor Brassil who won on him two starts ago at Down Royal and has the credentials to go well here, along with last-time-out winner Maighnealta, who shouldn't be inconvenienced by a 5lb rise and the step up in distance.

STEEL'S COTTON kept on well at the finish when second over C&D in March and wouldn't need to improve much on the form of that two-length beating in order to open her account. Coolfore Jack has claims on his Fairyhouse third in October and is unlikely to be far away at the finish, likewise Ben Button, who finished a three-length second over 3m in Grade 3 company at Cork in November but needs to leave behind a wayward performance at Fairyhouse latest.

West Ship Master bounced back to form when staying on for second over 2m5f at Tramore last month and is expected to improve for this step up in trip, while One Cool Clarkson landed minor money on a foray to Carlisle latest and appears to be weighted to finish on the premises. Preference, however, is for REDCLUE, who scored impressively over hurdles at Navan in November latest and commands respect as he's now rated 39lb lower over fences than over timber.

SHAKE IT UP struck between the flags at Loughanmore in March and will be interesting if attracting support now racing back under Rules. Kilna Shane has been thriving in the point-to-point scene recently and is the one expected to put up most resistance, though chances are also given to Larry Capri who, like the last-named, debuts under NH rules, and Cousin Bill, who has been off the track since finishing fourth over 2m7f here in August.

Bertie Bell sets the standard for the rest to aim at based on his three consecutive seconds in bumpers over distances ranging from an extended 2m to an extended 2m3f. However, he's evidently vulnerable for win purposes and might be worth taking on with Noel Meade representative LEOPARDS LEAP, who could be all the wiser for the experience gained when third on debut at Ballinrobe last month. River Dun could feasibly play a supporting role too.
