Magical Forest and Zaatar look the most likely of the debutants but a number of these displayed promise on their racecourse debuts. Rapacity Alexander revealed plenty of zip first time up and should definitely find a race, whilst Shadow Wing is likely to prove better than a rather modest Ripon debut might suggest. Black Redstart and Yes You are others likely to progress from their initial experience but Hannon juveniles frequently improve significantly from their first run and PRIMROSE PLACE, notably green on her Leicester debut when a staying-on fourth, can prove the point.

Great Return, backed into favouritism for his Chelmsford debut, rarely looked like justifying market confidence and may need more time. Sir Michael Stoute holds a decent hand with Poet's Word and Shraaoh, both of whom have already shown potential but MUNTAHAA is preferred to both. The Dansili colt looked very inexperienced first time up at Headquarters at the Craven meeting and in the circumstances did extremely well to fill the minor placing. He should prove more streetwise now and is taken to score. Point Of View also showed up well at that Craven meeting and warrants shortlist inclusion.

Beauty Sleep and Jantina are interesting newcomers for the Haggas and Stoute yards but SNOW MOON, a daughter of Oasis Dream, made a debut full of promise at this venue last October in a large-field maiden and is expected to make up into a useful performer this term. She travelled well through her race that day and can oblige before going on to better things. Pietrafiore is another expected to come on a ton for her promising debut during the winter and looks a threat along with Quebee and Nicarra, both of whom should land a maiden at least.

ICE SLICE has shown himself to be tactically versatile in landing his last two starts at Brighton and is taken to defy a 6lb penalty for his success earlier this week. A C&D winner, he is clearly in great heart at present and can maximise his assured fitness against many making seasonal reappearances. Winterval appeals as the prime threat as he remains unexposed with just half a dozen starts to his name, although his absence is a concern. Just Be Lucky rates an each-way option off a fair mark with Sarmadee and Stardrifter also respected in an open handicap.

A few of these look as if they could develop into useful handicappers but SHUFOOG did create a really nice impression on her Lingfield polytrack debut last autumn and hopefully will be ready to roll after an absence of over 250 days. Little Avon is also 1-1 and looks to have a decent future for Qatar Racing, whilst Wings Of Esteem is harder to analyse having only performed hitherto on Fibresand, albeit successfully. Pirouette and Kilim are also of interest moving into handicap company for the first time for Hughie Morrison and Luca Cumani respectively.

SHABBAH showed a significant improvement from his juvenile form when, upped in trip, he scored with seemingly plenty to spare in an ordinary Bath handicap. The slightly softer ground should not inconvenience the Sea The Stars colt and he is taken to follow up. Shadow Spirit ran well here on her final juvenile start and will go well if reappearing in the same form, whilst Kemsing could prove a danger to all. The Fielden charge proved a revelation on Fibresand during the winter months and would be an interesting contender if able to reproduce that level now returned to turf.

Many of these have been plying their trade on the all-weather which at least ensures fitness and a chance is taken with Wattaboutsteve, the lowest rated of the entire field and yet to race on turf at the age of five. Clearly, he's a risky proposition but did give the impression he would have obliged at Southwell last time with a better run and is a speculative choice to transfer his form to turf. Goadby didn't get the run of the race on his Doncaster reappearance and is expected to go well along with recent close Thirsk runner-up, Artbeat.
