FIRST BLOOD has his first start since August but could improve at this trip. His latest two runs over 1m2f were encouraging and while not blessed with early speed, he hinted at having staying ability and is effectively a stone below his latest Sligo run, having dropped 4lb and now ridden by a 10lb claimer. Kannoor showed form when last seen in August, has proven stamina and represents a yard in good form, but has a poor draw in 17 on her all-weather debut. Dual hurdle winner Profound has recent form and can get involved stepping up in trip on the level. Movie King is proven on the surface and while no star, is race-fit and could benefit from stepping to this Flat trip for the first time. Macaban City is able at this level and tries this trip for the first time under his 10lb claimer.

Dual hurdle winner ANNEXATION steps up to this 1m4f Flat trip for the first time. A capable hurdler, he met significant trouble when winning here last month and while his best Flat form is at a mile, he stayed on well on his latest run and this surface can continue to see him in a good light. White Marlin, a half-brother to Group 1-winning sprinter Romantic Proposal, showed plenty of ability when winning on debut over C&D and while open to plenty of progression, also steps up in grade against experienced rivals. Lord Mczie is remarkable in that he has twice won over 5f and again over 1m2f here in December. He steps up further in trip but being so well bred (his half-brother won a Group 2 and two other siblings are black type performers), could well continue his progression at this distance. House Of Kings is in good form and can get involved despite a recent ratings hike.

Well-bred GOLD WING ran well enough over C&D here last week and contests this ordinary maiden. A half-sister to eight winners, one a Group 2 winner, she was bought by current connections for 8,000gns last month and having settled well here last week, ran well enough to suggest she can win this under her 5lb claimer. Sunwalk has been a frustrating beaten favourite on his last two course starts in December and while he is race-fit, might struggle to give 10lb to the selection. New Moon Rising debuts for new connections and while her best form has been on turf, she nonetheless has a chance. Lyra Belacqua finished a neck behind the selection last week and while she seems to stay quite well, is vulnerable to a few today in first-time blinkers.

DRISH MELODY showed improved form to win over C&D in December and is 7lb higher today. That win was a step up on previous efforts but being a big, late-developing type, further progression is possible and she comes here race-fit and in excellent form. Sangria was disqualified as her rider claimed the wrong weight (2lb extra) from her win in November, but was slowly away and always behind over 5f here last week. She needs to show better form, but is better suited to this trip and usually starts smartly. Pilbara Gold was also well beaten on her first try over 5f here last week and has claims stepping back up in trip. Holy Divine and Clarinbridge are reasonably capable at this level.

SPIRIT AND GLORY ran a solid race when third in December and can win this maiden. Out of a winning dam and a half-sister to three winners, she was green on debut before running a good race on December 17, finishing a length and a half ahead of Sister Bridget. The latter franked the form with a useful third-placing last week and while there might not be much between her and the selection, she might struggle to reverse the form. Forgetmenotblue, whose dam is a half-sister to Designs On Rome, is from an old Moyglare pedigree and while clearly notable on debut in this ordinary maiden, might still benefit from today's somewhat belated and out-of-season introduction. Chargo ran well enough on debut here last month but possibly needs to improve a bit to win. Lakewood can improve from her debut effort.

ASKARABAD's placed dam is a half-sister to Azamour and he can improve from his November course debut. Slowly away, the selection finished off his race to reasonable effect and having bumped into a smart winner, drops to a weak maiden here. Golden Beach showed promise on the turf last year and while well held on course debut here in October, is capable of a little more and has been freshened up since. Barrier trial winner Barbapapa ran well on debut in a useful Gowran maiden in September and having returned with another useful effort here last month, has claims today. Zoffany Portrait is a sibling to four winners, was a 60,000-pounds yearling and can go well on debut, while stablemates Fortune Maker and The Churchill Lad need to improve from their respective debuts.

MISS CUNNING is neatly qualified having met some interference when fifth here last week. A three-time winner, she ran well when second over C&D in December and while slightly checked here last week, it cost her a placing and, as a result, is qualified for this winnable race. Blankiedoodie is a five-time winner who also comes here fit and well and was third, behind the selection, in December. Burning Lake, in stall 15, and Adapt To Dan are capable in this grade, while both Praying Mantis' wins have been on turf but she wasn't beaten far here last week.

INDIANA GREY has been a little slowly away on her last two starts and while disappointing from a wide draw in 16 here nine days ago, had previously shown better form. She is ideally suited to trip and track and while a little below par on her latest run, today's race is quite ordinary. Philly's Hope was just touched off for a placing here recently and has solid claims, being a capable type at this level. Take My Hand drops back to a suitable trip and was a winner over C&D in November. Briseuse De Coeur has yet to win but has been running well recently.
