There should be more races to be won with IRISH POSEIDON. The German-bred gelding finished up in his home country by winning at Cologne in June. His Irish debut at the start of the month was laden with potential as he went down by a nose and a neck after being slowly away over an extended 10 furlongs here. He built upon that by making all over this trip last week under Sam Ewing who is proving good value for his 7lb claim. He is reunited with him again and the pair have the ideal draw in stall one if forcing tactics are deployed again. A 3lb rise doesn't look insurmountable. Ado McGuinness has had seven winners on the Polytrack in the last three weeks and his Stellify could be dangerous. She landed a heavy-ground handicap in the Curragh at the start of the month. The one concern is that her two previous visits to Dundalk haven't been inspiring, so she still has to prove her fondness for this surface. Clonard Abbey has finished runner-up in her last two appearances over course and distance. She is a 15-race maiden but should be well in the hunt for more prize money.

SWEET AFFECTION can taste success again. Dermot Weld's filly was only caught in the closing stages of an extended mile-and-a-quarter handicap at this track on her last start. Her sole career victory came over a similar trip to this one at Leopardstown in the summer. Sam Ewing was on board for that recent runner-up berth and his claim ought to have her more than competitive again. Punters Poet is getting closer to a Polytrack success. He commenced his career on the sand with a third place (behind Sweet Affection) and then came in second in a two-mile handicap. He gets first-time blinkers and is certainly a danger. Macaban City stayed on well to be a close fourth here and is interesting up in trip. Royal Red Persian showed an aptitude for all-weather racing when keeping on for fourth last week. He could be one for each-way players to focus on.

Boitron showed there is still ability in the locker when failing by a head to get up over six furlongs just over a fortnight ago. He is comfortably the highest rated in this field, and is a former Listed winner in England who went on to be fourth in a Group 1 in France. He missed almost a year and a half before reappearing to finish unplaced here in October. He could very well stamp his class on this opposition but a mile hasn't been his best trip in the past. Therefore, preference is for ANGEL PALANAS, who has switched to Leanne Breen from Pat Murphy. He ran up a turf hat-trick for Murphy in the autumn and then took second in a claimer over course and distance behind a short-priced favourite last month. He has four all-weather victories from Southwell in his locker. Mikey Sheehy's 7lb claim helps lessen the joint top-weight's burden. Comin' Through could improve from his sixth in that aforementioned claimer.

NEYLAND is another good ride on this card for apprentice Sam Ewing. Pat Martin's filly came through for third on the line at Leopardstown and that looks notable form. The horses in fourth and fifth came out and won on their next starts, so it is reasonable to assume that Neyland can exploit her lowly mark. Kudbegood has every chance of making the elusive breakthrough under Siobhan Rutledge. He only gave best by a neck close home over course and distance last week when attracting plenty of support. He had a similarly tough draw then. He is a horse that has been placed no less than 10 times, so wouldn't be winning out of turn. Foreign Legion knows how to win and made a bold bid from the front over seven furlongs when last seen, before finishing third. He has winning form over this trip and is an obvious threat. Muraahin kept on for third over seven furlongs at this track on Monday and isn't out of it if reappearing swiftly.

Denis Hogan has two in here, and from his stall one draw ADAPT TO DAN may well be the one to chiefly focus in on. This is the third Wednesday is succession that the Dandy Man gelding has been targeted at a mile handicap at this venue, and his turn shouldn't be long about arriving. Seven days back he was an unlucky in running when a close-up fourth behind Everyhouronthehour, with jockey Joe Doyle reporting that his mount got tight for room in the closing stages. Yalla Go begins for Michael Cleary having competed for Hogan up until now. The Intikhab filly starts off in handicap company off a lengthy break. She's also equipped with cheekpieces and a tongue-strap for the first time. Elsewhere Kinch will top many shortlists. Each-way cases can be built for others too.

GOLDEN LYRIC and Messidor have plenty in common coming in here. Both were beaten when market leader last time out. Those respective efforts came on the turf, on surfaces generally described as soft. One would imagine that Golden Lyric and Messidor will be better suited by the polytrack. The fact that Golden Lyric is the one that we most recently witnessed, about a month ago at Naas, edges this observer in the direction of Mrs Harrington's runner. The Lope De Vega filly was second here in a barrier trial during the summer, and going up to seven furlongs now might not do her any harm either. The Coolmore crew have Ever A Dream (Johnny Murtagh) and Hair Of Gold (Fozzy Stack), but this pair will need to step up on what they've shown to date. Hopefully the betting will give us some clues as regards the newcomers.

Two for Darren Bunyan in here and the Curragh handler's BROKERS TIP is suggested. The Anjaal gelding has performed well for a couple of third placings since his attentions were turned to nursery company at this venue. A Phoenix Thoroughbred filly, Ablah, led him home last time, and there might not be anything as progressive among the opposition here. The selection's stable companion, Dreams Delivered, is not without a chance either, and similar sentiments apply to quite a few of them. With six of the runners fresh out of maiden company, the potential is surely there for a 'springer' or two in the market. Off an initial rating of 66, Al Rafiq might improve for the addition of a visor. He'll certainly need to.

Not a huge amount between those that hold official ratings. The six that have been assessed range from Hazard (69) to Zahee (79). A few in that bracket are tried in new equipment, including the aforementioned Hazard (blinkers). Grey Steak (71, now with a visor on) and Quiet Place (70, cheekpieces applied) are respected, as is Ola Bonita (72). For a selection though, STALINGRAD is put forward. Fozzy Stack's 71-performer showed up well when second over the course and distance 33 days back. Maybe the fitting of a tongue-strap can aid his cause on this occasion. The Kieran Cotter horses have become synonymous with speed and he pitches Clef De Voute and Okazoe in here. They could be longer term projects.
