Brahms De Clermont sets the standard based on his two wins in bumpers last year and his second-placed finish here last time out. That said, the son of Califet appears to be vulnerable and a chance can be taken with AIR SQUADRON on his hurdles debut tonight. The seven-year-old racked up a hat-trick on the Flat in 2015 and he ran well on many occasions last year. Protest is another newcomer to this sphere who merits consideration.

SWATOW has chased home two above-average mares in her last couple of starts and this race looks to be an ideal opportunity for the daughter of Shantou to break her maiden tag. Hoola Hula has shown promise in all three of her starts to date and she is clearly the main danger. Goodgirlteresa was a long way behind the selection last time out but she is the pick of the remainder.

ABRICOT DE L'OASIS finished second in a chase at Ffos Las last time that has worked out extremely well, given that the winner has won again since and the third was successful in the bet365 Gold Cup recently. The Dan Skelton-trained gelding had made the frame over hurdles at Market Rasen the time before that on ground that may have been too soft for him. Captain Buck's is an obvious danger based on his win over C&D last month, while Linguine should also be in the mix.

INK MASTER returned from a lengthy break win a win at Chepstow last month and if he has full recovered from those exertions then he will be hard to beat, despite his 4lb rise in the ratings. Tempestatefloresco went well in defeat multiple times last season and another good run can be expected tonight. Others who make the shorltist for an open event are Gowanauthat and Lemon's Gent.

INCH ROCK has continued to do his connections justice between the flags in recent times and it shouldn't be seen as a concern that he hasn't raced under Rules in 729 days. The booking of Will Biddick suggests that a fair effort is expected and he can account for Ballinaclasha Lad and Honourable Exit to score on his return.

EQUUS AMADEUS improved from his debut when third at Warwick to a decent type in Not That Fuisse and is entitled to improve once again on his third outing. St John's can be forgiven his poor run on testing ground at Cheltenham on New Year's Day and is clearly better than that, while others to consider include My Story and Symphony Of Angels.
