Mohawk Star has the ability to go close, but he was engaged to run last night. LOVERS LANE was soundly beaten in a NH flat race at Bangor last month, but would not need to be anything special to make a winning start over hurdles. Gironde, a good second to Itsmyboy here recently on his hurdling debut, is likely to go off favourite and will test the selection to the full.

City Affair is still a maiden, but his best efforts over timber put him into contention here. Dash For Cover showed his first piece of worthwhile form over hurdles at Towcester last time and will not go down without a fight. The selection, however, is INNOCENT REBEL, who has yet to impress in four starts over timber, but is eased significantly in grade this afternoon.

Pams Oak and Special Conquest both scored over fences last time out. Both of them look strong contenders in this line-up, but the one that catches the eye is MOSCOW WHISPER. Twice a winner over hurdles, he was second on his chasing bow, before falling when in the lead at Towcester last time out. Sure to win plenty of races over fences, he can start by winning this modest event.

Any one of these can collect first prize including Bramblehill Duke, who at 13, is at the veteran stage, along with fellow 13-y-o Tell Tale. DUNSTER CASTLE has winning form over both hurdles and fences. A disappointing last of 5 behind Tell Tale at Newton Abbot in March, he can turn that form around on 11lb better terms.

Altitude Dancer and Good Man Again were both engaged to run last night, and if turning out again, they must both have a decent chance. DELAWARE has won a couple of races over both hurdles and fences, but his losing run has stretched to 23. A close second at odds of 50-1 over 2m1f at Newton Abbot on his penultimate start, he could take this if in that kind of form.

6

16:30 Exeter (Class H) (5YO plus)

Exeter Racecourse Intermediate Hunters' Chase

Not an easy race to unravel, but one capable of scoring over regulation fences for the first time is TEDDY BOY. Unplaced in a couple of races over hurdles, he has a better record in point-to-points, winning three times, including an effortless win over 3m last time out. He can score here, with Dante's Promise and Horizon Hill, expected to pose the main dangers.

KARAWA chased home the useful looking Knockara Luck in a similar event at Cheltenham last time, and with some improvement on that, she can make it third time lucky here. Miss Midnight will have plenty of supporters, but Martin Pipe's unraced Neodyme would not need to be anything out of the ordinary to make a winning start and is one to watch closely in the market.
