Stratford runner-up Perfect Summer is sure to have plenty of supporters representing Ian Williams and Richard Johnson but it might pay to take a chance on VERING. He only found subsequent winner Slidecheck too good at Wincanton last time (pulling 10 lengths clear of the rest) and, dropping into selling company for the first time, he should give another good account. Mother Meldrum completes the shortlist following her placed effort over the extended 2m1f here.

IN THE CROWD has been hammering on the door, including a half-length defeat at Leicester last time, and he looks to have a big chance under Cheltenham Festival-winning jockey Ryan Hatch. Rosygon was in the process of running a big race when falling two out at Taunton and she should figure prominently with a clear round of jumping here, while Auckland De Re is certainly a lot better than he showed on his handicap debut over this C&D in January.

LAMBLORD was still in there pitching when coming to grief two from home at Stratford and, providing that fall hasn't dented his confidence, he could make amends here. Quieto Sol has Richard Johnson booked for his handicap debut and it would come as no surprise to see him post a much improved effort, while dual course winner Thundering Home shouldn't be underestimated in first-time blinkers.

We didn't learn much from HENRYVILLE's chase debut success at Fontwell (finished alone) but there was a lot to like about his narrow defeat behind subsequent Cheltenham Gold Cup fifth Irish Cavalier at Newton Abbot last time. He remains open to plenty of further improvement and could have enough in hand to see off Golden Doyen, who disappointed here latest but remains a gelding with lots of potential, and the first-time blinkered Port Melon.

You only have to go back to November last year for when Drop Out Joe won the Badger Ales Trophy at Wincanton and he boasts sound claims dropping in grade following his fifth-placed effort in the Grimthorpe Chase at Doncaster. Just A Par was declared a non-runner for the aforementioned handicap on Town Moor and arrives fresh, so he's noted along with 2013 Scottish Grand National winner Godsmejudge. THREE FACES WEST gets the verdict, though, as the three-time hurdles winner finished second to subsequent Midlands Grand National runner-up Milansbar when last sighted in this discipline over C&D and remains an unexposed quantity after just the two starts over fences.

It is difficult to get overly excited about the claims of MOR BROOK purely on latest form figures, but a 103-day break may have worked the oracle and this lightly-raced son of Kayf Tara is just 3lb higher than when winning impressively at Bangor last May. This could be the time of year to catch Kim Bailey's charge and he can get the better of dual distance winner Flemensbay and sole C&D winner Free Of Charge.

GET INVOLVED made it third time lucky in handicaps when getting off the mark at Newbury at the beginning of the month and that first career success may have been the making of him. The son of Milan readily exploited 9lb lower at the Berkshire venue and is open to stacks more improvement after just the six starts over timber. Speredek won over C&D a fortnight ago and 7lb claimer Conor Smith helps negate the majority of an 8lb rise for that win, while Pyrshan completes the shortlist.
