FREDDY'S STAR wasn't well treated at the weights in a claiming hurdle at Bangor, so to finish third was a creditable enough effort and he can strike off his current mark. Lucy's Perfect failed at Fontwell and looks best watched until she shows more away from her beloved Taunton, while Timoca isn't badly handicapped on the evidence of her Hereford third but she disappointed at Wincanton last time.

The post came in time for Beauchamp Viking at Towcester last week but a 7lb penalty won't make life any easier, while Piment D'Estruval won narrowly at Fontwell two starts ago but couldn't make the same impact off his current mark at Stratford latest. BERTENBAR was raised 10lb for winning at Fontwell in February but ran out a commanding victor at Hereford last month and though up another 10lb here, he has every chance if handling the fast ground.

A staying test on decent ground appears to suit RIVER INDUS and he could follow up his gutsy success at Fontwell despite a 6lb rise in the handicap. Marleybow went close on his first start for five months at Haydock last time but it might be that he's best when fresh, while American World has slipped to an attractive mark but recent efforts haven't exactly hinted that a win is in the offing.

ORION EXPRESS made amends for unseating his rider when well backed over an extended 3m at Taunton with a ready success over the same C&D latest and, with conditions to suit again, he can defy a 5lb rise in ratings today. Bollywood has been dropped 4lb for a two-length defeat at Hereford last month and looks sure to play a leading role, while Miss Miracle is tumbling down the weights and could be poised for a big run.

Sara's Smile was three lengths in front of AMERICAN LADIE when scoring over an extended 2m at Chepstow last month but showed her quirks when unseating her rider last time and the latter is taken to turn the tables today. Following some disappointing efforts, the first-time blinkers seemed to do the trick for Alan King's mare when she scored at Fontwell latest and she can begin to fulfil her potential if the headgear continues to have the desired effect. Belle De Fontenay can pick up the bronze medal.

ROLANTA relished the quick ground when landing a C&D seller in good style last week and although he carries a 7lb penalty today, the fast conditions will play to his strengths again and he edges the call ahead of Mac Beattie. The latter was noted making late headway when fourth over 2m at Ffos Las last month and, with this longer trip to suit, he could have more to offer now tried in handicaps. Sir Clad wasn't beaten far over this trip at Stratford on his penultimate outing and warrants respect.
