Having being thrown in at the deep end in the Group 2 Norfolk and July Stakes last summer, Diamond Johnny G was expected to pick up a race early on this year but has failed to do so in five attempts since his return to action. However, he again only found one too good on his turf return at Nottingham on Tuesday and should be in the firing line today along with Papageno who has been running well in defeat in all-weather handicaps in recent months. The one to follow, however, could be ITWASONLYAKISS who looked a speedy sort in her juvenile campaign, especially when only going down by a head in a hot Sandown maiden. She returned from a nine-month break over 6f at Pontefract last week and showed plenty of pace before fading badly from 2f out. That should have blown away the cobwebs and she'll relish the return to the minimum trip.

Catherines Call arrives here on the back of a double in sellers (one over C&D) but this is a tougher assignment and she has no margin for error under top weight. Katy's Secret has shown ability in three all-weather outings and looks feasibly treated on her handicap bow so could run a big race if taking to turf, but the safer option appears to be POSY FOSSIL. The Stuart Williams-trained filly gained reward for two good efforts in defeat when opening her account in good style over 6f at Kempton when last seen in February. A 5lb rise looks more than fair with the possibility for further progress to come and she proved she can handle quick turf conditions last year.

Although Another Try is likely to give a good account, CORNUS and Beat The Bell look like the ones to concentrate on here. The latter escapes a penalty for his comfortable victory in an apprentice handicap at Windsor last week and will take some stopping if in the same mood today, but that is no guarantee after he failed to land the odds at Leicester on Saturday and the preference is for Alan McCabe's representative. He confirmed superiority over Mr Wolf to complete a double over this trip at Catterick last week and, off only a 2lb higher mark than his last success and with conditions to suit again, he can make the most of the weight he receives from his rivals today.

Bill Turner has his string in fine form at present and has another strong hand here with ANJOMARBA, who made all with something to spare in this grade over 5f last week. The remainder of his five career wins came over 6f so the step back up in trip is no concern and he comes out best on official official ratings. The main danger appears to be Lastkingofscotland, a comfortable scorer in selling company on Lingfield's polytrack last month but yet to tackle quick turf conditions, while Dream Express has claims on his recent all-weather form.

Decency left her maiden form behind when making a successful handicap bow over this trip at Kempton latest and there could be more to come, which may also be the case with MOTTY'S GIFT who has improved since the application of a visor and also opened his account over 7f at Kempton earlier this month. He represents the in-form Walter Swinburn team and is taken to defy a 4lb rise in the handicap. Tregony Bridge finished 1 1/2 lengths behind the selection latest but can close the deficit on these revised terms, while Tamarind Hill wasn't beaten far into third in a similar event at Catterick recently and should make his presence felt again.

Well Overdue cost 52,000 euros and warrants respect on his long overdue first racecourse start, but it may be best to concentrate on previous experience. Round Won improved with each of his three outings last year, ending the campaign with a bronze medal in a 7f maiden at Lingfield, and could progress further now upped in trip. However, SWISH DISH has the benefit of a recent run and she gets the nod. Richard Hannon's inmate improved significantly on her juvenile form when third in a hot Newbury maiden over this trip earlier this month and that outing is entitled to have brought her on again.

Gary Moore has won two of the last five runnings of this race and the in-form handler can take the prize again today with CHARLIE SMIRKE. The penny has dropped recently and the selection made it two wins from his last three starts over 1m at Lingfield latest. The 4-y-o races off a 4lb lower mark as he reverts to turf this afternoon and will be very tough to beat if transferring his recent all-weather form to grass. Mr Hichens has gone well on both starts since landing a Wolverhampton double last month and looks the biggest threat to selection as Diamond Twister would prefer further.
