David Pipe's smart Flat recruit ARAB LEAGUE made a very pleasing start to life over obstacles when denied in the shadow of the post at Plumpton. That experience should bring him forward and the gelded son of Dubai Destination can make full use of the weight he receives from the returning course winner Cleaver and the Evan Williams-trained Lava Lamp. Gary Moore's Plumpton bumper winner Grabtheglory is also hard to ignore as he makes his hurdling debut.

GOOD OLD DAYS takes a drop in class and having found only one too good in a similar C&D contest off the same handicap mark back in June, Kim Bailey's 12-year-old could should be competitive at the very least. The obvious threat is chasing debutant Osmosia, who has been running quite well in defeat in novice hurdles lately. Louis Ludwig was still going well enough before unseating at Newton Abbot, while The Grey One shouldn't be far away if the selection falters.

OCCASIONALLY YOURS showed a really likeable attitude to fend off the classy Cockney Trucker at Worcester when last seen in June and although resuming off 7lb higher handicap mark, he is fancied to emerge on top again with conditions in his favour. Cygnet brought Geneva Geyser's unbeaten run to an end at Uttoxeter recently and a 3lb swing in the weights may not be enough for the latter to reverse the form. Tasheba, Sircozy and Fountains Flypast (won here on Friday) are other possible contenders for top spot.

BERMUDA BOY looks the one to be on having shown a consistent level of decent form in defeat since having his attentions turned to chasing this year. Paul Nicholls' dual hurdles winner found only one too good for the third time in this code at Newton Abbot last month and deserves to get his head in front today. Helium and Vertige Dore are expected to put up most resistance, while Lidar could rediscover some sparkle now tackling fences for the first time in public.

Not many can be ruled out with confidence and RHYTON is only a tentative selection. John Kington got a fine tune out of Donald McCain's four-year-old in a handicap for novices at Bangor in August and although hit with a 10lb hike in the ratings, they look a combination to stick with. Absolute Shambles must be feared as he chases a four-timer but Worcester runner-up Mr Valentino remains quite unexposed and might prove a bigger threat to the selection.

Jan Jandura has been knocking hard on the door of late and another bold bid beckons but he has no margin for error off his current mark, while similar sentiments apply to Wait No More, who has also been placed on his last three starts. It could pay to take a chance on MARC AURELE, who gave a good account of himself in both starts last month and could make the most of this drop in class.

Douchkirk created a favourable impression when scoring at Stratford on debut but defying a penalty in these events is never easy, as John Berry's gelding found out at that same venue when last seen in June. He should be thereabouts again but it could be worth taking him on with FLEMENSGAEL, who kept on well for third once the penny dropped on his NH bow at Uttoxeter last month and he is entitled to have come on plenty for that experience. Swincombe Stone, a half-brother to useful jumper Swincombe Rock, looks the pick of the newcomers.
