Fa'iz may have proved a costly failure at Wolverhampton but that was a decent maiden for the venue and the winner went on to place fourth in a big sales race in Ireland. He can bolster Saeed bin Suroor's impressive Redcar strike-rate, although Buster Brown has tackled a couple of well-contested events and won't go down without a fight. Invasor Girl ran better than her SP suggested she would on her Lingfield introduction and natural progression should carry her into the frame again.

KIWI BAY returns off a mark 5lb lower than that off which he beat Charlie Cool to this prize 12 months ago, and he is 8lb better with that rival for a four-length C&D defeat earlier this month. Jonny Lesters Hair has been his usual honest self lately, although last week's Ripon triumph came over 1m2f and he might be more effective at that trip now. In contrast, Staff Sergeant got going too late over 7f at Ayr but still managed to fill the runner-up berth and he remains weighted to strike soon.

Doncaster Rover is a credit to David Brown and ran as well as could be expected in the Haydock Sprint Cup. He beat MAJESTIC MYLES by a head at York's Ebor meeting, but Richard Fahey's three-year-old reopposes on marginally better terms and ran well for a long way in the Ayr Gold Cup under top-weight. Colonial is also better off with Chilworth Lad for a defeat of less than a length in a Newbury Listed event, while High Standing has had Majestic Myles and Doncaster Rover behind him the last twice and isn't out of it either.

BANNOCK has got closer to next year's 2000 Guineas favourite Harbour Watch than anything else and has been freshened up since that Richmond Stakes second, where Gimcrack and Mill Reef winner Caspar Netscher was third, with today's rival Silverheels (6lb worse off) one place further back. Bogart couldn't add the big Doncaster sales race to the one he collected at York, but still appeals as a threat. Bear Behind ran well against his elders on Town Moor but may prefer 5f - a remark that also applies to Excelette.

YORKSTERS PRINCE has prevailed in a couple of sellers over this course and distance during the summer, the most recent of which came by four lengths last week. He shouldn't really need to take his form to a new level to make it win number three because, of those rated the same or higher than him, Huntingfortreasure has been woefully out of sorts this term and Bridge Valley has a near-two-year absence to overcome.

Select Committee took this two years ago but even though he has been holding his form well since a Beverley win, he has never won off a mark this high. Similar sentiments apply to recent course and distance scorer Rhal, while Silvanus is consistent enough but has ground to make up on SENATE MAJORITY from a Musselburgh meeting back in the spring. The Tim Easterby-trained selection proved his well-being by making the frame in a competitive sprint at Ayr's Western Meeting and is actually 1lb lower.

The form of SCIAMPIN's Salisbury success has been franked by subsequent victories for both the placed horses and with just the six races under his belt, Marco Botti's gelding remains open to plenty of improvement. Painted Tail is also on an upward curve and broke her duck when favourite for a Wolverhampton contest, although her best efforts have come on an artificial surface. Amazing Blue Sky improved for the drop back to this distance at the last meeting here and merits respect as well.
