John Gosden has his string in good order at present and his Riot Police looks sure to give a good account here. He sets the standard on form along with Sylas Ings but there are some interesting newcomers. Mariners Lodge and Namibian both make plenty of appeal on paper but DOMINANT holds a Group 1 entry for later in the season and Michael Jarvis' smartly bred representative could be the one to beat on his racecourse debut bow.

Strictly Rhythm has been knocking on the door of late and she should be capable of getting off the mark before long but slight preference is for SUD PACIFIQUE. He was well fancied on his debut at Newcastle and duly shaped nicely, finishing runner-up to Sergeant Ablett. With that initial experience under his belt, Jeremy Noseda's colt can go one better this afternoon. Mark Johnston's newcomer, Dordogne, is one to monitor closely on his debut with Keiren Fallon an eye catching jockey booking.

Desert Icon has been running well in recent weeks and remains on an attractive handicap mark but he looks a tricky customer. HUMIDOR comes into this in great form and a 1lb rise for his 5f Brighton success last month is unlikely to stop him from going well once more. He gets the vote although Seamus Shindig hinted at a return to form here last month and could soon be ready to capitalise on his attractive handicap mark.

A tricky puzzle to solve. Hot Prospect looked a shade unlucky when finishing runner-up in a Group 3 contest at Windsor last month and can be expected to go close again. BULLET TRAIN has not really progressed since landing a Group 3 contest at Lingfield back in May but he still has time on his side and the drop back to this trip could help. Holberg is a very useful performer and he commands respect but this trip is a touch on the short side for him.

The form of EXEMPLARY's 1m4f Leicester success in April has worked out quite well and he is open to further improvement so can be expected to go well here despite returning from a short break. Doon Kalal won a Folkestone maiden in impressive fashion last month and he makes plenty of appeal on his first foray into handicap company while Sea Change carries a 6lb penalty for his impressive Lingfield success last week but still enters calculations along with Shelfah.

16:55 Goodwood (Class 3) (3YO plus)

Discovery Foods Handicap

DHAAMER has been raised 4lb for his Sandown 1m2f success earlier this month but he appeared to win with something in hand on that occasion and can defy the handicapper here. North Cape has been running well of late and he is entitled to be on the premises once more while Lethal Glaze has not been at his best of late but the application of blinkers could help and the booking of Kieren Fallon is a positive.

7

17:30 Goodwood (Class 5) (3YO plus)

COLORUS is very attractively handicapped on his best form and he indicated that he could finally be ready to capitalise when a promising fifth at Yarmouth last week. Witchry comes into this in fine form and there is every reason to expect another big run from him. Elhamri showed more sparkle at Brighton last month and he is well treated on his best form so should not be left out of calculations with similar comments applying to Sermons Mount.
