ART ECHO appears to be improving between runs and is expected to build on his Ascot third over 6f earlier in the month now stepped back up in distance. Many Dreams wasn't far behind the selection at Ascot (fifth) and is expected to give him most to think about this afternoon while any money for Richard Hannon's 82,000-pound newcomer Tadaawol would also be notable.

Saeed bin Suroor's GOOD RUN was beaten by under a length over 1m on debut at Carlisle and is expected to improve for this step up in trip with the benefit of a previous run now behind him. The Charlie Appleby-trained Long Call strengthens Godolphin's hand further and any market support ahead of his racecourse debut may be worth heeding. Of the rest, Hygrove Percy and Kismet Hardy are entitled to build on respectable debut performances at this track and could also take a hand.

Thames Knight is thriving at present and arrives on a hat-trick after notching back-to-back 1m2f victories at Bath. However, over this slightly longer trip and in this higher grade, marginal preference is instead for SILVER QUAY, who caught the eye at Windsor last time when finishing second over a similar trip having been left with too much to do. Covenant was sent off favourite for a similar contest at HQ when last sighted and is another worth keeping tabs on in the betting.

Battalion boasts winning form at Listed level over this trip and commands respect on the back of his latest Windsor third, which represented a step in the right direction after his disappointing John Smith's Cup effort. However, of more interest is the upwardly mobile BASEM. Saeed bin Suroor's charge, a brother to the classy Farhh, posted his best effort yet when third in the Strensall Stakes and is expected to better that placing now his sights are lowered. Superior Mile third Hors De Combat is capable of going well on these terms and is also shortlisted.

Old Newton Cup winner Notarised won over 1m6f here earlier this season and makes most appeal of Mark Johnston's duo, though Sennockian Star has slipped back to a workable mark and, as another with winning course form in the book, also has something to recommend him in his own right. Nevertheless, both runners have to concede weight to Ed Dunlop's improving three-year-old SCRUTINISE, who may be capable of defying a 6lb rise for his comfortable victory in a lower grade at Thirsk and could be the one to be on.

C&D winner DEEDS NOT WORDS ended a losing run stretching back to last summer when scoring at Chepstow last time. He had dropped sufficiently in the handicap that, even after a recent 3lb rise for his win in Wales, he remains very well treated on his best form. Evening Attire returned to form when landing minor money at Yarmouth last time and has place possibilities along with recent Epsom scorer Harwoods Star and grade-dropper See The Storm.

THREAVE has landed back-to-back distance victories at this course and at Sandown and may be able to overcome a 7lb rise for the latest of them while seemingly on good terms with herself. Fellow hat-trick seeker Valmina also figures prominently on the shortlist in his present mood and is the one expected to put up most resistance, though a big run from track and trip winner Alpha Delta Whisky could also be on the cards now he's returned to 0-75 company.
