CRYSTAL RIVER looked in need of the outing at Newcastle on debut in November and has been given plenty of time by her patient connections. A switch to grass over a mile looks a positive move, and she could find some improvement now in the care of William Haggas. Bombay impressed when second at Ripon recently but already looks to want further than this on breeding, while Farage and Irvine Lady both have plenty to do.

Trinity Star is becoming tough to win with but should be suited by this easier ground and drop in distance after a poor show at Beverley last time, while Cliff Bay didn't get home here last time but this more forgiving surface can see him do much better. On that occasion he finished behind FLEETFOOT JACK, who has only been raised 6lb for that victory and the three-year-old can repeat the trick for David O'Meara.

WHAT WONDERS WEAVE seldom runs a poor race at this venue and the Irish raider looks poised to go close under handy claimer Rowan Scott. Character Onesie was disappointing last time out but has to be respected for a yard that was in superb form over the weekend, while Another Go drops in distance but would probably prefer some rain. Shambra needs a market check wearing a first-time hood for Roger Fell.

Hamish Mcgonagain could do with more give in the ground and disappointed when failing to handle a penalty for an earlier victory for David O'Meara, while Melaniemillie ran another excellent race at Catterick last week when second and remains on an unaltered mark. It might be worth siding with DODGY BOB, who has gone well here before and returned to winning ways at Carlisle a fortnight ago. He's still on a fair mark and won't mind conditions.

RACQUET has been in excellent form on his last couple of starts having won two of his last four outings, both wins coming at Ayr, and he looks the one to side with here off 3lb higher than his last winning mark. Urban Spirit could prove capable of improvement in first-time cheekpieces and for a move to Roger Fell's yard, while Avenue Of Stars ran a lot better last time and would pose a threat if able to build on that.

MADE OF HONOUR has shown some good form in nurseries and has been given a break since winning her maiden at Ayr back in May. An opening handicap mark of 78 could well underestimate the daughter of Casamento as she looks one open to significant improvement. Rutherford is in decent form and has to go close once again, while Savannah Slew and Southern Belle have solid claims on recent form.

PADDY'S ROCK bounced back to form when only denied by a head over C&D a couple of weeks ago and he is taken to go one better than that second this afternoon. Champagne Rules was successful over 1m2f at Nottingham back in July and he was not disgraced when third at the same venue a few weeks later. Dream Free and Adherence are the pick of the remainder.

Plenty of these have claims but the nod goes to INDIAN CHIEF, who has only been narrowly denied in both starts since his Beverley win at the beginning of last month. Yensir remains a maiden but he should pick up a race sometime soon based upon his last two performances. Henpecked and Peterhouse are not the most prolific of winners but could reward each-way support today.
