On The Wild Side won a pair of novice hurdles at this track last year and though his only handicap run over timber ended in defeat at Newbury, that was in a hotter race off an 8lb higher mark. He has to be respected, but ANIMORE gets the vote following a narrow defeat over C&D. Iain Jardine's mare has been raised 1lb but she can confirm the form with Methodtothemadness, who was third in that race but is only 2lb better off. Grand Morning won a handicap over timber off this mark last term, but has a bit to prove after some modest efforts over fences.

WILD SHOT (also engaged to run at Down Royal on Friday) got within half a length of success at Clonmel and looks likely to open his account over timber sooner rather than later. The Irish raider is taken to get the better of Lucinda Russell's pair Readysteadybeau and Thunder In Milan, who were both last seen finishing second in bumpers. It's Good To Laugh carries a penalty after sharing the spoils at Perth, but he won a Flat handicap off a mark of 90 so could be good enough to defy the extra weight.

For Jim fended off a late challenge to score at Bangor and could be dangerous despite a 6lb hike, while Buddha Scheme is an out-and-out stayer who has run well here in the past, including when second off 5lb lower in this last year. Scoop The Pot wasn't beaten all that far at Cartmel and has claims, but REAL ARMANI edges the vote. Jane Walton's gelding filled the runner-up spot over track and trip on his return from a short holiday and a 5lb rise might not be enough to stop him.

MULLAGHMORE WAVE arrives on the back of two victories at Ballinrobe and Downpatrick during the summer. The John McConnell-trained mare can round out the hat-trick, despite having to race off 11lb higher than her current Irish mark. Sheriff Garrett was narrowly denied here a couple of starts ago and he could go well once again, while Happy Hollow warrants attention on his return to action.

SOUNDS RUSSIAN has filled second place in both of his previous starts and the unexposed six-year-old may have been found an ideal opportunity to go one better. Mr Jackman is more than capable of making an impact in a race of this nature, although his most recent effort was disappointing. The shortlist is completed by Who's The Guv'nor and Camp Belan.

GRAYSTOWN and Follow Your Fire might be the ones to concentrate on and the former is preferred, despite coming down two out here over 2m4f last week. The quick turnaround suggests he's come out of that with no lasting scars and he was in the process of running really well. Follow Your Fire goes back over fences after finishing second over timber at Perth, while the shortlist is completed by First Revolution.

KHADAASH is the one they all have to beat after his recent debut fourth at Clonmel behind Gordon Elliott's Sam's Choice, who brought solid Punchestown form to the table. He must have a bumper of this nature within his compass on that evidence, but it might be worth keeping an eye on Big Changes on his return to the track and debut for Philip Kirby. Fiadh can also make her presence felt.
