Noel Meade has a strong hand and maybe, under the prevailing conditions, JOE MASSERIA can prove the better of his pair. The son of soft-ground influence Fast Company showed promise on debut when third at Roscommon and, on his first run since being gelded, there was also merit in his more recent fifth at Naas. Chestnutter has run well in all four starts and was just caught close home at Navan last time. The 81-rated filly was third on testing ground on her first start and will have plenty of supporters here. Eastern Wind finished over three lengths ahead of the selection when third at Naas but it might be a different story on testing ground, while the newcomer Princess Azure is out of a mare who was third in the Irish 1,000 Guineas and relished soft ground.

ROYAL BLEND was second to a useful prospect on her reappearance at Bellewstown just over a week ago and can go one better. She hasn't had much time to get over her exertions but was runner-up twice on heavy ground last term and hopefully won't bounce from that big effort after eleven months out of action. Arctician is best in on ratings and is tried in a visor for the first time. He twice ran well in Group company last year but was well off that form when third at Tipperary on his comeback run in August. Soft ground doesn't seem to be an issue and he should go close. Palifico ran well on soft ground here last year and should improve on last month's Fairyhouse third which was her first start of the year.

EXPLORERS WAY has run two solid races over a mile and might get his turn here. He ran around a bit under pressure when third to Scriptwriter at Gowran and, although the second let the form down during the week, should be more professional now with another run under his belt. He handled an ease in the ground last time when finishing well clear of the fourth. Sen Ding was disappointing at Listowel but was only beaten fractions on his previous two starts and has to enter calculations on that form. Golden Beach's talented full-brother Imaging won this maiden on testing ground four years ago but he needs to step up on what he's shown so far, while Rock Of Candy cost 55,000 guineas as a yearling and is a newcomer to note.

THUNDER RAIN has run well in a slightly higher grade on his last two starts over this trip and might be able to defy topweight. He backed up a fourth place finish in a big field at the Curragh with a solid fifth in a competitive heat at Listowel where he handled yielding ground. Morning Approach has come down a stone in the ratings since first being assessed and ran creditably at Navan during the week. She's another taking a drop in class and it looks like she's getting close to a competitive mark. Shazza won well on soft ground at Listowel back in June while the Ger O'Leary pair, You Owe Me Money and Pallasmore Lass, both showed promise on easy ground early in the season but have been off over four months.

A specialist over seven furlongs, San Andreas is the one to beat on ratings after his fine second to Masen in a premier handicap at Leopardstown but he is unproven on testing ground. A chance is taken on DOOLIN DANCER from a stable in form. Ken Condon's charge chased home the progressive Moddy Poddle at Killarney in August and won a soft-ground maiden at the same venue this time last year. Not at his best over a mile on his last two runs, dropping back to seven with cheekpieces fitted for the first time may produce a better performance. Pretty Rebel is another tried in headgear and this soft-ground performer should come on from her second at Musselburgh which was her first run for over three months. Forest Of Dreams ran well when second to the useful Carrytheone at Gowran last month but was well beaten in a Group 3 on testing ground last weekend.

INDIANA GREY won this race on heavy ground last year and could bounce back to form after a light campaign on turf this time around. She didn't run badly at Galway last month and has been dropped another 3lb since then. Cracking Name won for the fifth time over the extended seven furlongs at Tipperary on Monday. She was well-positioned to avail of the best of the ground in the straight on that occasion and this will be tougher as she's yet to win off a mark higher than 65. Pimstrel was caught close home by Philly's Hope at Bellewstown but is preferred to that rival on overall form while there should be a race to be won before long with Cork third Florence Thompson and she's another to consider.

KODIAC PRINCE won well over this trip in first-time headgear at Killarney last week. Tom Cleary's charge loves soft ground and might go in again despite being 2lb out of the handicap. Dragon Of Malta landed a punt at Galway and had several of these rivals behind when second to Laelaps at Listowel. The ground was too fast for him last time and he looks a danger back on a soft surface. Kevin Manning is getting down to his minimum weight to partner No More Porter who has won twice from five starts in handicaps. The Elzaam gelding put in another creditable effort when third at Cork last time. Star Of Cashel was fourth in the Irish Lincoln at the start of the season and is another who relishes soft ground. He has five lengths to find with Dragon Of Malta on their running at Listowel but he could be a lot sharper for the outing which was his first after a summer break
